Cinnamon
I am quite tempted to try an i-phone & thought I would ask here to see what you lot thought of them? At the moment I have a Nokia N95, which is brilliant, but I would quite like change & the i-phone looks good to me. I like quite techy stuff & I think this could fit the bill. However, I would need to get it unlocked as it needs to run on Vodafone rather than O2, so its quite a big consideration & commitment
stoice
I couldn't warrant the cost of an iphone - either on contract or unlocked. I use pay as i go on my mobile and mostly text - which are free on my tarrif. So I got an ipod touch instead (For my birthday! - Bonus!) It can do everything the iphone can do except the phoning part (And taking a pic) So I can surf the net using wi-fi, email, play games, music, collect pictures etc. I love it. Cinnamon
I do need to be able to use it as a phone My contract comes out of our company anyhow, but I get free texts & 600mins a month, which I never use up, on Vodafone.
Willow
I got my husband a pay go iphone last Christmas as he'd never use the free texts and mins for a contract. As he doesn't use a mobile much I was a bit concerned it would be a waste but he loves the phone and uses lots of the apps for info.
Geoid
iPhone's are brilliant! But, there is no point getting one if you are not on o2, even though you can get some of the older models unlocked, the newest one is cannot be unlocked, although you can buy in on pay as you go. The Dogmother
We are currently in the process of moving all our consultants at work from Blackberries (which have been pants!) on to the new iphones. A business contact has one and really rates it. Me? I just want a phone that makes calls
..lay a little egg for me
Have you thought about the LG cookie? It is an iPhone look-alike but cheaper. It depends on how many apps you want to use. I think it is available on several networks (mine is Virgin).

Cinnamon
Me I'd change mobile provider. It's a beautiful machine .....SIGH A phone to make calls Sadly, only Vodafone works around here, we are in a bit of a black spot. Having to have a phone that works in the house is essential, & the Voda mast is only over the road

I thought I was in an O2 black hole, well I was when I moved here 18 months ago, but lo and behold when I last checked a few weeks ago ......... Voila O2 is here Heck, I hate this thread ....I'm going to look at the possibility of getting one

Lewis
Have you thought about the LG cookie? It is an iPhone look-alike but cheaper. It depends on how many apps you want to use. I think it is available on several networks (mine is Virgin). I think its a good phone, but mine crashes all the time. It sometimes just turns off and back on, sometimes it will do a master re-set so anything stored on the phone, and settings/pictures/texts get deleted I set it to store everything on the memory card now, and there is enough system memory clear, but it still happens
Ness3103
i want one too but my contract with orange is for another 6 months and i can't afford to get out of it early i've got a sony erricsson and its rubbish, turns on and off when it wants, doesn't always send or receive texts, blimin nightmare just gonna have to be patient
Tulip
I know what you mean about not receiving texts. My iPhone does that but I don't think it's the phone itself, as I've had this problem occasionally for a few years now - dodgy O2 SIM perhaps. I'm just raging at the moment because my friend was trying to text me last week that she was pregnant and she kept getting 'rejected' from my phone! It's hard enough that all my friends are getting pregnant, but being the last to hear the news really is the limit. Oh, and I got a text from O2 yesterday (funny how the always get through) saying they've been over charging me for data and I'll be getting 45 quid back next month - hurrah! Anywho - back to the iPhone - I luuuuurve it. The camera doesn't have many mega-pixels but the software behind it is excellent, so you get really good pics. Endless apps are great - I have games, knitting tools and fertility charting (sorry if TMI but it saves firing up the laptop every day! - that's for another string I reckon). iPhone = genius. purplefowler
My OH is getting one in the next few months. I moaned at first as it seemed really pricy, but after he said I could have his "old" htc tytn2, I rethought it and it seems a good idea Seriously tho, as you get free unlimited internet, his friends all just use skype! He works all over the world so in theory it will work out a whole lot cheaper in the long run.
Guest
I got my N97 today - does everything the Iphone does only a bit better, better camera, better screen resolution, handy keyboard, better choice of networks. Oh and whilst I found the kickstand on the N96 great for keepign it angled towards me on my desk I can see the slidy bit with the keyboard out being even better than that. Ha they thought they could ban us from Facebook. Fools. Networks is a biggie for me like it is for you cinammon I always have a good laugh at the Iphone brigade - when they visit they can usually be found standing on a bench at the bottom of my garden waving their shiny little music players in the air - cos if they are lucky that *might* turn them back into a phone. Best coverage in the UK is Vodaphone, even the guy in the Carphone Warehouse (who don't do Vodaphone) said that.
Seagazer
My ES bought his girlfriend an iphone for Christmas and she loves it. My OH has been desperate for one for some time. If ever we go past a mobile shop we have to go in so he can have another play with one. He currently has a blackberry and a another hefty mobile. I think he will be getting one soon.
