As has been mentioned on another thread "what are your strengths and weaknesses" is a common interview question.

 

So whether you have an interview coming up or not - What are your strengths and weaknesses?

 

I'll start.

 

Weaknesses - I am easily distracted, also I tend to go into things too deeply.

Not sure if I would admit either of these in an interview!

 

Strengths - I am confident and helpful.

My stock answer to this, when they ask about weaknesses is to say 'I talk too much!' That's usually following my 'strengths' bit, which is good public speaking skills, articulate, and good at writing - words are my best tool.

 

I also think (genuinely) that I'm reliable, organised, and a good team member.

 

I'm not great at creative thinking though.

Good question! strengths - creative, enthusiastic, interested in people

weaknesses - easily bored and a bit lazy. Wouldn't admit to these in an interview though....

Weaknesses: I see things only in black and white....no grey areas.....I don't suffer fools gladly......and I too talk too much.

Weakness.....I am a spendthrift.....but my DS thinks it's a strength when he's out shopping with me I rarely say no. Unfortunately, he takes ater me , so is always broke

 

Strengths....I am generous and I think I am caring, empathatic and a good listener.

Singlemindedness, if I do something I do it properly or not at all. I never destructively criticise anybody; my mother always said, "if you cant say something nice to somebody say nothing at all"

Strengths; When there's something I really want to do or acheive, I am very focused.

I'm really dependable; when I say I'll do something for someone or be somewhere at a particular time - I stick to my word. I'm a creative thinker, I love 'doing',

am generally positive and have a good sense of humour.

 

Weaknesses? I don't express sadness easily and some might think I don't care (often I care too much, but hate crying).

 

I've been known to worry myself sick about things and take on so much that nothing gets done particularly well.

 

I'm not particularly good at delegating work to my family and end up feeling 'put upon'.

Strengths: quite good with people, fairly intelligent, care about the world, imaginative, loyal, honest, kind.

 

Weaknesses: lazy, easily depressed, get annoyed at little things.

Strengths - good friend, loyal good sense of humour, kind and gentle

weaknesses - lack confidence, babble when nervous and am a rotten enemy

Strengths - not easily intimidated, tackle things head on, confident, independent, hardworking, generous

 

Weaknesses - I don't easily trust, my independence can come across as stand-offish and a hard-nosed, I don't express my true feelings NEARLY enough so people think I'm hard and "not bovvered", control freak, sometimes take on too much and so a dozen things get half done instead of half a dozen done well, don't delegate, and like almost everyone on here one way or another - "I believe I am SUPERWOMAN!! And I can do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING ALL AT ONCE in 24 HOURS!!" and then I wonder why I'm knackered

Weakness - tries to be a perfectionist at everything, hurts easily and tends to take everything to heart.

When I took my old employers on in the employment tribunals for

Disability Discrimination (which I won on 5 counts )

a colleague overheard two members of staff discussing it one of which said

"they will rue the day they took her on she's a rottwieller"

 

It still makes me laugh today 18 months on

there's an interesting way of looking at this issue/question at interview:

often our 'weaknesses' are the same as our strengths - just used in the wrong context or taken too far. Sometimes they're referred to as 'overdone strengths'.

Strengths - Organised (I love lists!), Punctual (Never any excuse for lateness), Focused, Determined.

 

Weaknesses - Lazy, Nervy/Shy, Self contained (people find it hard to get to know me, I keep to myself) & Anti social.

 

Oh, and cheese is a big weakness too

Such a variety of answers! Some made me laugh, some made me want to send you a hug. Some I would borrow if I was ever in an interview situation again!

Great thoughtful answers. Right here goes

 

Strengths - I can see both sides of an argument (not always a strength) but I have a point of view. I'm an optimist and my glass is half full. Calm in a crisis and hold things together at work and home. Can be energetic and motivated and gets loads done.

 

Weakness - I don't always express my point of view. I am easily upset and a bit selfish. I think I am a nice caring person and then find I'm not, quite a shock. I can be very lazy.

Uncanny indeed.....I am known as the rottweiler at work because I get lumbered with chasing the bad debts........and I don't hang about.

Strengths, honest (gets me into trouble sometimes), caring, loyal, optimistic.

 

Weaknesses, despite being what I hope is a nice person, I can lack imagination when it comes to thinking of special ways to treat someone. I can be a bit selfish but that has largely been cured by having children. I am quite lazy unless it is something that I want to do. I have many good intentions which don't quite come to fruition, but I will not make a promise if I can't keep it.

 

I am quite anti-social, which is largely down to shyness. My own time is precious to me, and I find this forum a life saver
