red
I know there have been similar threads in the past but I'm starting a new one inspried by the Elves and the Shoemaker thread. I have been wondering recently whatever happened to televised Kabaddi? They used to show it on television - I'm fairly certain it was on Channel 4 on a Sunday morning. It's a sort of game of tag popular in India where you have to tag as many of your opponents as you can and run back to your team without being caught by your opponents - that's not a very good description but that's the gist. Does anyone else remember watching it? I wonder why they stopped showing it? - it was much better than cricket Also whatever happened to KICK-START - that was also great morning weekend viewing - I used to love watching them bounce the bikes over the logs and down the hills ... Paola
I remember Kabaddi. You have to chant it while playing. Its been ages since it was on the box

Richard T
From what I remember the players were dressed only in their pants. Is it any wonder that omleteers remember the game with fondness? Richard T

red
Perhaps we could have some sort of Kabaddi in Omlet pants tournament at the next summer get together (I think it'll be a bit too cold at Jimmy's in December - don't want to give all the lads an excuse )

Cate in NZ
Sort of on the same line of whatever happened too (I'm resolutely ignoring all references to Omlet pants ) has anyone else heard that they're resurrecting Swap Shop..... with the original presenters I believe that it's to be a one off special, probably for Christmas, but apparently Noel Edmonds, Keith Chegwin, Maggie Philbin and John Craven will all be back presenting it. Who on earth will watch it........ apart from nostalgic idiots who were children in the '70's and can't resist a reminder of their childhood.... like me
One Man Banned
I heard the other day ont radio like that David Walliams and Matt Lucas are interested in relaunching the show and are currently in talks! Not knowing the original programme (although seen those replay funny clips type shows) I think I am now a little too old as isnt it aimed at kids?!? A xx

I hope that Posh-Paws is still around - I loved Posh-Paws. Trouble is - it won't be the same because modern kids are too sophisticated these days to get excited about swapping their buckle on roller-skates for a game of Mousetrap If they are going to relaunch it - they ought to aim it at adults who watched it as kids and only allow swaps of nostalgic things. Sheilaz
That's such a good idea for a programme format Red, a nostalgia swap shop for adults. Or a forum version? I have an original (part worn ) "silky pale" lipstick from the late 1960's from the Boot's "19" range. I'd like to swap it for.... ...hold on, I don't want to swap it, it's lovely. Oh, I should point out that I'm not that old, my older sister passed it on to me when the flower power era ended. So, it'd be a part worn, 3rd hand lipstick. I did try & save a silver jubilee (1977) tin of baked beans, (unopened) sold by Biba! But my SIL threw it out. That would have been a great swap. Snowy
Wow, Pippa dolls - that brings back memories. I had a full set at one time - Pippa, Britt, Tammy (and another one I can't remember!). They all had horses of course - I only ever had dolls if they had a horse to ride. It's all come flooding back - scary!

Snowy
Isn't it surprising what you remember from childhood when something simple triggers it. One evening I was looking at the rightmove website and did a search for houses for sale in the village I grew up in. Lo and behold, our family house came up as For Sale with loads of pictures of the interior and exterior. My brother and I spent hours looking at the pictures and reminiscing - so many things we thought we'd forgotten, names of neighbours, games we played in the street etc. Great evening's entertainment though! I much prefered Pippas to Sindys......they were much more tiny & delicate & had that wondeful long flowing hair. My Mum used to make tiny little clothes for them all,& I had a Pippa camper van I seem to remember. Britt was my favourite,as she had lovely mocha skin & long blonde hair ,which was SO seventies

red
......they were much more tiny & delicate & had that wondeful long flowing hair. One of my Pippa Dolls had annoying hair that stuck up before hanging down (like she'd had her hair in a pony tail for too long!) I used to spend ages wetting and flattening it to try and make it hang properly only for it to spring up again as soon as it was dry ... Charlottechicken
Didn't new dolls have that wonderful plastic smell though? A few years ago at work I opened a new box of those clear plastic loose leaf pages, and the smell took me back to taking a Barbie out of her box. I exclaimed "Barbie legs!", and got some really funny looks! Can't think why
