Just found out that my name came out of the hat to go to China next Easter with my School. Im in Y7 and really excited. Were goin to see the big landmarks:Great wall, tiannem square, bell tower, forbidden city, summer palace and terraotta army. Goin for 8 nights and 7 days. Really excited. Start saving pennies!!!

Actually, if I had to pay just out of my pocket money and nothing else it would take me ...£10 a month...£120 a year...£1200 in ten... GAH!

Bag packing is always a good way to raise money, especially if you go with friends. And the poundshop is always a good place because people get change in £ coins and put one in the bucket and its easier to count

You'll love the Terracotta Warriors. I saw the few that came to London and thought them breathtaking. To see them all must be amazing.

Schools amaze me! How parents are supposed to fork out for such trips disgusts me. What about less fortunate children? It really saddens me that some children get ' special priviliges'. So much for preventing jealousy & bullying.

On that note at our son's induction evening for secondary school they have changed the Yr 7 holiday from a foreign one to Mersea Island (think its Essex!) because of the current financial times. Apparently in September they will be giving out forms so that parents can take longer to pay for it. I think they said it will be £120 which could be more in line with what a lot of parents could pay.

That's more like it £120. We I was a girl - we went to Llandudno for 5 days. It was about £70. We also had a daytrip to Calais. Which I think was £25. Me & my dad went on that one. The coach left school at midnight & I felt really grown up being allowed to stay up so late.

Hmmnn My DD is off to India for a month in less than 12 months time - cost? £3000 but she has to raise it - upto £1300 so far - much better idea than parents paying for it Having said that, China would be a wonderful place to visit - have fun!!

I know what your saying, my daugther came home with a trip to Japan a couple of years ago and I'm afraid I said no, it was just soooo much money and I couldn't justify the rest of us going without a holiday.

 

Sorry not meaning to put a downer on your trip. My brother lives in China and he loves it.
