I was shocked some time ago at how many children at school never sit at a table to eat, school lunchtimes were a whole new experience for them :D

This isn't helped by 'dinner ladies' not being able (allowed? - seen as abuse?) to tell children to "sit up straight, eat with knife and fork , stop talking with mouth full and clear your plate"

It depends... Most meals together at the kitchen table, no tv in kitchen. Special family meals at the dining room table in the conservatory (still no tablecloth, I like to see the lovely wood table) but with napkins. Extra special treat all watch a dvd with meal on our knees -usually Saturday night. :D

Breakfast is great - I get up earlier and get to read the paper in peace while eating my breakfast!! :D

We have a tiny downstairs too. We have a little fold down table in our kitchen but need to find room for it in the living room as it gets way too hot in the kitchen after cooking and it makes it uncomfortable to sit and eat in there.

I wish we had more space!!

I've practically always eaten off my lap in front of the tele (except as a child when we ate in the dining room as a family).

My daughter was taken to her first restaurant when she was six months old and eating out was the only time we ate at the table.

Now when hubby's children and grandchildren visit we eat at the table.

Hubby goes to work at 6.45. I'll get up with him but I must admit that on a dark winter's morn I'll take my brekkie back up to bed :oops:

We don't have a dining room and have a small cut-down table in the living room. DD eats here as she's messy but there isn't room for us so it's in front of the tv i'm afraid. If we ever move, a dining room is at the top of my list, or at least a kitchen/ diner. I would love to eat a proper dinner at the table. Also, i'm a rather messy eater so my laundry basket would appreciate me eating at the table too

we don't have a dining room, but the kitchen is just big enough to put the table up so we can all fit around it. We've got one where the chairs fold up and slot underneath, wouldn't have space otherwise. I'd like a conservatory built on the back, big enough to have the table in, then we could sit and watch the chickens whilst eating :D
