Charlottechicken
I have received my Hawkins Bazaar catalogue this week and as usual it is full of things I never knew I needed! It is a great place to shop for 'someone who has everything', and also kids (of any age) with an enquiring mind. Loads of things for less than a fiver, like crystal growing kits and zoetropes. This year they even have real sterilised owl pellets (or owl puke as they call it!) for you to dissect. If you are lucky there may be a skeleton of a small creature in there The plastic light up tulips are really nice though, they create a lovely ambient glow. Take a look, though I would sign up for the catalogue as I find it easier to look through. www.hawkin.com

chelsea
I love hawkins bazaar. You can even find stuff that I was given was I was a kid Lots of little stocking fillers, I always get loads of silly little bits for my 2 nephews... like squeezy putty or those really noisey long balloons. My sister has told me not to bother with all the bits and bobs this year (because she doesnt like clutter or noise)....but that aint gonna stop me !! Lesley
My sister introduced me to Hawkins a few years ago and we've bought many bits and bobs since then. for the last few years Christmas has been at our house - Carl and I don't have children of our own but there are my 2 grandchildren and my sister's two little ones, all of a similar age - we get all the mess* This year - Christmas Day is to be at my sister's (* - and we've loved every minute of it ) PS - it's a good job it's early and I've been able to remove the extra 'o' from bobs

Mrs Frugal
I'm sure Hawkins Bazaar have just opened up a shop in Peterborough. LSH and I tried to get in for a look but it was PACKED!! Must have only just opened but some of the things they were selling took me straight back to my childhood! We were both pointing at things and exclaiming that we had one of those when we were children!!
fourfinches
What a great site. It's good to be able to buy 'extras' for reasonable amounts, otherwise stockings can cost a fortune to fill. Morag
Charlottechicken
There is a new shop in Peterborough, Kate. We used to have one in Birmingham, but it was very small, I think it was only on a six month lease. The shops all seem to be concentrated in the south now. They've got a really nice old fashioned looking alarm clock in the catalogue, called a wacky waker, which says 'cock a doodle do' instead of ringing, only £7.99 too! I like the look of the ginger beer kit and there's a micro brewery too! And the snoozing lamb looks lovely!

Never been to the dreaded Touchwood shopping centre but I may venture over one day.
Lesley
Never been to the dreaded Touchwood shopping centre but I may venture over one day. I thought I was the only person in the area who hadn't been to Touchwood!

Lesley
and there are always the Shopping Channels I discovered those while laid up with my leg in plaster, 4 years ago. i managed to spend £200 from the comfort of my armchair! In the days BF - Before Forum - I wish it had been around then. I hate all forms of shopping although some of it is necessary. Carl has found the perfect way to keep shopping bills down - he only ever buys what is on a list and doesn't check out special offers. Although I hate shopping, if I'm there then I will have a look around. On the few times we use a supermarket now, he runs in and buys me a newspaper and brings it back to the car for me. He then does the shopping in record time. He seems to think it costs him less that way
