Travelling through France?

Recommended Posts

Hi fellow chicken keepers!

Just wanted to say if by any chance you are travelling through France for what ever reason and need a place to stay for the night / few days or if you are visiting our region of Poitou Charentes then you are welcome to stay at ours!

Alan and I are a gay married British couple now living on our tiny 1 acre small holding in very very rural Deux Sevres, in mid western France and we are also big suporters of Couch Surfing. (http://www.couchsurfing.org) Its an organisation / website where if you have a spare room and dont mind letting people stay for the night , you can offer it up to people who are traveling in / through your area that need a place to crash for the night (or as long as you can host people for) its a non profit offer, not for money! just an good old fashioned offer of a room! no strings attatched what so ever :D our couch surfing profile link is in our signature below.

we have hosted a few people from lots of different countries so far and for us its been great! friendly conversation over a home cooked meal and bottle or two of wine and if wanted, a tour of our area! so if you ever find yourselves in Deux Sevres on your way to your holiday destination etc etc and want to break up your travelling, you fellow chicken fans are more than welcome at our old farm house!

Thanks for reading this post :)

a bientot

What a great thing to do and what a lovely kind offer - yet more evidence of what a generous nice bunch Omleteers are! Sounds very lovely where you are, only been once but it was a few years ago, my ultimate goal is a smallholding in France, be a few years yet tho! Still, if I ever get Delilah a pet passport we might all come and crash on your sofa yet!!

What a fab offer :D

Not sure you'd want me and my brood turning up with our caravan in tow as there are 6 of us (bit like rent a crowd  ) but if we go back to France next year you never know!

6 not a problem!!! :) as long as 2 dont mind an airbed in the art studio! or just put the caravan in the driveway :o)

thanks for the messages guys!!!

have a good weekend!

Hi everyone!

wow you are all so friendly on here!! :)

Shame no one is visiting us this coming week! blue skies and 25°C today but going up to 30°C all next week again :D and we could have done with some help with our dining room ceiling now that we have ripped it down to expose the old beams

back to 'work' for us, making jars of roasted homegrown pumkin and cherry tomato pasta sauces for the cellar :) got to use up our kilos n kilos of cherry tomatoes some how! Alan did tell me planting 300 plus tomato plants from seed was a bit silly....

a bientot!

What a lovely offer. :D I have some friends (ex English too ) who live in St Gervais les Trois Clochers in Vienne region in France. Not seen them for a while as we have tended to holiday elsewhere recently but have visited several times in the past. We were always made very welcome by the locals and invited to the town celebrations with the mayor on occasions. Very interesting part of France with great wine caves and chateau to visit. Are you anywhere near :?:

Thats about an hour and a half further in land and a little bit north of us but we like it there as we went camping in that area last year :)

Yeah, our region is great for buying wine! We buy ours from a cave in Bressuire and compaired to the UK, its sooo cheap! 1 litre of 'normal' everyday red wine is 1 euro 10, but if you want something special, a really good Bordeaux (our favourite :D ) is 2 euros 20 a litre!!!!! It makes it worth while to visit France just to stock up!! We also got a lot of our wine from our neighbours friend as they have a vineyard! lucky people!!!!
