HENthusiastic
I am happy to announce that Henrietta Hen has had 5 bouncing, fluffy children . She has 2 blond children and 3 black children. Mother and children doing well. Hows that for a great hatch rate out of 7 eggs? Especially as they were brought from ebay and then delivered to a neighbour before being handed to me by small child, who was waving them around rather carelessly! Both grandmothers are thrilled Edited September 13, 2009 by Guest

Chook n Boo Mum
What gorgeous little bundles of fluff Hen, well worth the wait does Mum let you hold them? Oooo heck I'm getting broody again....shame I haven't got a broody hen & am not entertaining an incy session..and actually Buffie is still not right so I am slightly nervous about the whole broody hen thing Are Pekins better mums than Orpies does anyone know .....planning ahead for next year already...I've only got one Pekin so far & she's not even laying yet ? Griffin
I've got a Pekin or two to try with next year I can't decide if one is a boy or not, think I'll post pics of it later. It'll be no use as a broody if it is a boy Lovely pics, especially the last one with them lined up around mum.

atsw
Are Pekins better mums than Orpies does anyone know Both breeds are very good Mums. Our Buff Orp was absolutely fantastic earlier this year, very attentive, she had everything under control from the very start. Never took her eye off the chicks. Chook n Boo Mum
Our Buff Orp was absolutely fantastic earlier this year, very attentive, she had everything under control from the very start. Never took her eye off the chicks. Yes Buffie's the same...so attentive to the point that she still isn't eating properly & insists on feeding the little monsters rather than herself..she's still so thin it worries me and the past few days her crop has been practically non-existent at bedtime which is not good . "midnight" feasts are becoming popular in our garden as I've been out until after dusk over the weekend....start off with syringed pellet gloop then a bowl of mealworms but she likes it Do Pekins have more self-preservation instincts than the over-mothering instincts of my Orpie, or is she one in a million Sha x
laurmurf
Congratulations again, HEN! Pics on here are a lot better than the ones on your phone! I can't wait to see them in person.... hint .... hint

HENthusiastic
Thanks guys. We have named them 'the scooters' because they scoot around the place so fast. I'm sure our other chicks weren't so speedy! Heres hoping to a family of girls eh?
