Seagazer
My uncle, who we visit every year in Devon, has been taken into hospital. He has MS but has been unwell recently with language problems and knocking things over. At the weekend they thought he'd had a stroke but he's just had a scan and the signs are that he's got a brain tumour. I could really do with some positive thoughts from everybody please. Seagazer
Thanks everybody, it means a lot. Mum was in a terrible state yesterday, we bought her over to ours for dinner and a cuddle. She's gone down today to be with her brother and sister-in-law. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that its benign.

Seagazer
Well I've been up since ridiculous o'clock as I can't sleep for worrying. My uncle has his appointment today with the neurology specialist to discuss his tumour. My mum has read me his medical notes and it doesn't sound good (not that we are experts). His tumor is 4 1/2 cm by 7 1/2 cm. Yesterday the local hospice rang my aunt to talk about my uncle. My aunt went into shock and kept asking my mum why they were ringing. I'm not sure if she is in denial or just didn't realise quite how serious things are. Whilst they were in hospital the doctors hinted at just palliative care. I went to sleep sobbing last night and thinking of all my happy times in Devon that I spent with my uncle and aunt. We had a caravan when I was a child in Berrynarbour and spent every summer there. My uncle lived in Combe Martin then and my Nan lived there too. She also used to live in Westward Ho! I even spent my honeymoon down there and popped in to see them. For the past 5 or 6 years we have gone down every year, its mine and my brother and sister's kids favorite holiday of the year. I don't know what my aunt will do without my uncle, they have been constantly together since my uncle's diagnosis with MS. I want to go rushing down there but my mum thinks that it will just panic my uncle at the moment. I'll wait and see what the consultant says this afternoon. MedusA
How awful for your poor uncle (and aunt). Fingers crossed for a positive meeting with the consultant. *hugs*

Seagazer
Thank you everyone. OH kept me busy yesterday with a 7 1/2 mile walk in the beautiful Kent countryside so I wouldn't sit and ponder too much. Didn't manage to talk to my mum last night but she sent a text saying that the Neurologist is going to operate on 7th October and he hopes that its benign, which is so not what I was expecting. Thats really good news. I'm a bit confused as to what his local hospital thought but think I will need to talk to mum later hopefully. She likes to get out and have a walk and then she can talk freely. This aunt and uncle are the only ones that I see regularly now and we used to spend a lot of time with them throughout my childhood so they are dear to me. Drive me potty at times but always feel at home with them. At least now I'm an adult I can understand them. I used to think they were talking a strange language as a girl Quite broad Devonshire accents Thanks again for all your support, it really means a lot. Seagazer
Thanks Vicki, spoke to my mum and she said the Neurologist was a lovely chap and said that he was really hopeful that he could get most of the tumour out, although its right next to a main artery so he probably won't be able to remove it all and hopes its benign. Apparently the bigger 'tumour' is a cyst so that is also positive news. Hopefully I might actually sleep properly tonight
