Raspberries in a pot???

Recommended Posts

OH would  big time though if these turned up... :D

Zillions grow wild in our garden and hubby's always pulling them up

I like it... "I found them in the garden... Honest!!".

As long as they don't turn up on the doorstep when OH is home I am laughing!! :D:D

I took delivery of some standard raspberry canes in Jan and 'heeled' them in a large wooden trough to be planted in Feb/march, then the chickens became more and took more of my time and the canes got forgotten but they fruited in the trough just fine!

All I would say is make sure you use a big enough pot!

I've had autumn-fruiting raspberries in a large container for a couple of years. They're not as productive as if they were in the ground, but they're happy enough as long as they get enough water. They don't need supporting, because they're stocky plants, but these T&M ones that grow up a tripod would look nice!

I've grown raspberries in pots for a few years now, I have them in 2 plastic pots about 40cm square and have 3 per pot & I get quite a good crop so there are always plenty for having with our cereal or for desserts. I've never grown them in the ground though so don't know how the quantities compare.

I grow all my fruit and veg in pots as the borders & beds are full of shrubs. Plus if something doesn't seem happy where it is I can just move it to location it likes.
