So I drove past Wernlas today. - *with pix!*

Recommended Posts

So I went to Ludlow for the night with 7 mates for a friend's 40th and had a lovely time staying in her mum's holiday cottage. Couldn't say how the cat box fell into the back of the car.

I have ... a dear little 14 week old cream legbar (Tiggy) and a honking great 14 week old partridge cochin (Rasputia) who sounds like the horn section of the Royal Philharmonic.

The girls think the eglu is wonderful and love scratching in real soil. They've even put themselves to bed and are cuddled up on the roosting bars.

They seem to be settling well and have been furtling, eating and drinking. The big girls are curious but can't get near them as they're in a fenced off area of the veg garden inside their eglu run.

I went out to take photos and the little dears have retired to the eglu for an afternoon rest!

More dustbathing has been done and they have had a visitation from Wiggy, who'd flown over the chicken netting to have a look.

Have noticed that Tiggy, the little legbar, has got hole punches between her toes on both feet. I seem to remember that this is a way of discriminating between them in the flock - am I hallucinating?

My girls have the punch holes too. I got a gold laced wyandotte & a gold legbar last year. I also hatched a Cobar & Partridge cochin, from eggs bought from there (both were cockerels). We kept the cochin & rehomed the Cobar. The wyandotte is now mummy to 2 beautiful girls fathered by the Cochin. They are stunners! I am amazed at what I got from the Cochin (partridge) & the gold laced wyandotte. She is like a golden double laced wyandotte. The other baby is like a buff colour with fluffy feet.

You get quality chooks from Wernlas without doubt.

I went to ring them today - I want 2 POL silkie girls. I then remembered they are closed on Mondays. grrrrr.

There is always tomorrow.

P.S think the punch holes are something to do with the age group pens they are in when young & the fact they are from Wernlas, should you show them. But I could be wrong.
