chickenopolis
Does anyone's chicken purr? One of ours purrs like a cat. Is that normal?? She was under our garden table sitting down, and she just purrs? Also, I don't think they are, but are tomato leaves poisionous? Ours seem to tuck into them just before bedtime. Plum
Mine purr as well usually when having a dustbath. Cat doesn't cluck yet or lay eggs
House MD 221B
yes ours purr when they are having a dust bath its adorable isn't it edit:/ ours chowed down on rhubarb leaves which are supposed to be poisonous but they loved them, and no matter how much we tried to stop them they'd always find a way. abwsco
Mine all purr but some more than others. It was very emotional when we first heard our exbatts do it.

Cinnamon
Funny - The Absolute radio breakfast show had a question last week - 'what animals other than cats purr?', & I texted in that my chickens purred when you stroked them. Caused much hilarity in the studio when read out & an accusation that I am imagining things
4Clucks-minusOne
Mine purr when dustbathing and also when they come in. They like to settle down on the doormat and watch the world go by. Then they start purring or a high pitched trilling.
fluffyknickers
Mine purr when I go and shut their eglu door at night. So sweet. Hmm maybe we should record it as evidence!
Clur
Yep, one of mine used to purr when she had a cuddle, and the others do when they are sunbathing!
Ness3103
mine all purr when i shut them in a night and skye purrs when she sees me, which is so sweet and also odd because she's not keen on being held or stroked. obviously she's just happy to see me
