whoopsie
I'm picking up my two ex-batt chooks today, to hopefully make friends with my original two girls from Omlet. Bit nervous about the intros but I think i've got it worked out. Wish me luck!! Margot Barbara (we need an ex-batt icon!!!)

whoopsie
Well i've got them. Glenda and Rose are now rather confused about their new home (puppy pen in the garden with a cat carrier to shelter in) but I think they'll be fine. They are much better feathered than i was expecting -apparently the farmer is one of the better ones and doesn't send any to slaughter but to rescue instead!. You can still tell they have no idea of the outside world though and they are very sleepy - I guess they have no energy compared to the charging about of the other two. I have taken pictures, I just need to work on getting them up on the forum.
Plum
Congratulations, hope its fine tomorrow for all that chicken watching. Well done giving them a chance.
whoopsie
Oh this first night is awful - they must be so confused out there in the coop. I can't stop worrying about them. Glenda sounded like she was crying earlier and she nearly set me off too.
dippy bird
Oh bless them, breaks your heart doesn't it?
whoopsie
Well folks I was right to be worried. I was woken up by ferocious clucking this morning and shot down the garden to find that a fox had got the two new girls. I've lost them both. It had got them THROUGH the bars of the pen I was using and pulled it across the garden which must have been what got them out of the cat box - if indeed they were in it to start with. All I've been able to do is clean up the mess and comfort the other two in the eglu run - they were completely safe there. Think i'll be sticking with two chickens Edited October 11, 2009 by Guest
