Krysia
This morning Hubby asked if I had let the chickens out after breakfast, I said no! then why are they out! Some lovely person has cut a hole in the chicken wire door panel and stolen one of the vorverk cockerels! unfortunately we were going to eat them ( we still have one) in the next few weeks so they probably taste great! I hope they are keeping it to lay eggs as they will be waiting a long time! I called the police and they asked if we were sure it wasnt a fox or dog, I said unless the foxs have wire cutters and can push the wire to one side big enough for a human, I was quite sure! The only bright side is they did at least pic the smallest panel of chicken wire so the damage is the most repairable.
dippy bird
OMG!! Thats disgusting!! Why do people steal chickens? They make me so angry! The poor thing will be terrified! Really hope they get caught.
Krysia
Thanks Dippy bird but I bet it didnt get chance to be terrified, they probably killed it for food or a laugh The police also said that if they know they are there and with Christmas coming they may be be back! I am so annoyed!
Guest
makes me so angry! I hope the police are going to do something! I'd be staking out the garden with a shot gun (Jeremy Clarkson stylee)

Egluntyne
What a shame. Can you replace the chicken wire with weldmesh?

chickenanne
Y'know how farmers can legaly shoot dogs which are hassling lambs /killing livestock? Wonder if the same rule applies here?
cluckingmad
that is disgusting You wouldn't pop into a shop and steal a chicken, so why do these people think its any different stealing a chicken from a back garden?! I think I would be investing in a very large, savage looking dog... oh, even better, a PICTURE of a savage looking dog with "I live here" under it and a tape recorder linked to the flood lights.. when triggered, terrifying hounds of hell barking.... In all seriousness though, I'm appalled that some people obviously care so little. And a vorwerk too
Redwing
That sort of thing makes me so angry I am really sorry They are quite a rare breed and fetch a bit of money so maybe he was stolen to order
Valkyrie
Yet another posting of stolen birds - this is too much! I am so angry with the oiks that are such lowlives that, well . . . DD helps in a charity shop and people even steal things of the hangers there! Some people should be blanketyblanketyblanked and then some! cluckingmad
Sad but true - spoke to Dad this morning and he was telling me that they're even stealing the central heating oil for the famrs now!! Apparently, they role in in the dead of night with a lorry and just drain the tanks - first thing you know about it is when you get up to a freezing cold house I'm not normally a violent woman, however....
chickenanne
Nicking heating oil from tanks is pretty commonplace around me: whole tanks getting lifted is also a possibility if house is empty /tank is accessible.
The Dogmother
And the same around here too. In fact in some cases, whole loads of farm machinery are going too!
