Geoid
One of my chickens, paprika, had a lot of poo on her feathers around the vent. So I gave them fluvbenvent. I went out today, she looks a lot worse, wont come out of the eglu and more poo on her feathers. Some of her feathers are also missing, she looks really tired too. What should I do? Redwing
I dont have much of a clue what it could be sorry Fred but if she was mine would bring her in give her a clean up or maybe a bath, offer some porridge (warm water and pellets) along with some corn for a bit of energy and keep her warm to see if any of that helped Bokashi bran may be an idea to firm the poo and Avipro or live yogurt might help address the balance if she has a gyppy tummy Worming again in a few weeks may also help I had one like this and I must be very honest and say that as a last resort I gave mine a course of Coxoid which is ntended for Coccidiosis (even though she had no signs of cocci) but it did do the trick
Geoid
I put her in a box with food and water, she is very hungry. But she cant support her weight on one side.
chelsea
Oh dear Fred that doesn't sound good poor paprika, I would keep her warm and hydrated like you are doing - it's a good sign she is eating. Hope she's better soon.
sandyhas3chucks
Fred the way you wrote it, it sounds like you only gave Flub once? It was just the way you put ut isn't it? Is it possible (it can happen quite easily) that she has broken a leg? She may have sprained it & be loking steadir in the morning. If not I personally would pop her tp the vet
Poached
hi fred it sounds like your girl has mareks which they have a small chance of getting, its exactly the same symptons that my lily had and she had to be put to sleep
Geoid
Fred the way you wrote it, it sounds like you only gave Flub once? I flubenvented their food, they have been eating the medicated food for a week, as per instructions....
cluckingmad
Hi Fred, How is she? I'd get her to the vets asap if you haven't already, sounds like a check over os needed - could be nothing but you don't lose anyhting by being cautions (only the other way round). Hugs to you and Paprika, Carolyn x
sandyhas3chucks
well Fred you have eliminated one "general under the weather thing"( i thought you would, but just needed to check) someone i know had a sililar thing with not standing and thought she needed calcium as this can make them limp, also egg bound can make them limp, even right off leg as it presses on a nerve. She did as I suggested and took her to the vet as despite being 100% sure it was not a broken leg, I thought it might. She had a shocker of a fracture and had ir pinned etc and is doing fabulously. but you really need a vet to check out all possibilities. good luck
