Is there a book inside you?

Recommended Posts

I have written a book but it was never published. As part of my degree I did creative writing and I wrote a Science Fiction Comedy Novel, I got a 1st for that part of my degree.

I currently have 4 book ideas on the go, as well as re-drafting my degree book, but never have the time to do anything about it and would struggle with how to get anything published/promoted anyway.

One day maybe.... I always said if I won the lottery I would work on my books and try to get published.

I would like to think there was,but am not confidant enough to give it a bash :?

I was once given the book 'How to write a novel' by a very dear pair of friends when I was feeling very low,so I guess they must have thought so too...

I read heaps & heaps of books, but suspect that even though I would prefer to write something clever, something more chick-lit would come out of me instead

As a readaholic I always think I would love to write a book, but two things stop me, total lack of disipline and the most boring writing style known to mankind. :(

Ah well, artistic people sound so difficult to live with!

My sentiments exactly!!

I've been a contributing author to a book and the subject of one. I love storytellers - traditional storytellers like Neil Gaiman rather than Proper Novels these days (Booker/canonical literature). I never thought I'd say that! I've got a few ideas on the go, but it's completing anything and then knowing what to do with it.

My big brother has written a book and had it published. Its called "A Year on The Bog". And yes, it actually is about his toiletting experiences over the course of a year  . He recorded every 'episode' and it has been published and sold as a normal sized paperback

There was a big book launch at Waterstones with him signing copies. Theres a picture of him naked sat on the toilet on the front cover :lol::oops: . Its most bizare.

Tis true  . He wrote down every single time he went to the loo for a whole year. He timed each visit (including journeys to and from toilet), writing down what time he went, how long it took and anything that 'occured' both on the journey and whilst getting down to business.

Its still available! Think its definitely a blokey type of book.

ANH I'm not as hairy as him

A moving story then? OK I had to look - I didn't opt for the larger image though ewwww! Now he'll have to go on I'm a Celebrity . . . they seem to have long spells of not going at all! How would he cope there? On the other hand "Is there a book inside you" applies to him inside and out - what a thorough man.

How hysterical - wonder what on earth went through his mind as he decided on that for a topic?:lol: Has he written a follow up?

I'd like to write a book as I like writing, but I'm only any good at blogs, and even then I only do it once every month or so. When I read something good I'm always left wondering how on earth they came up with something so complicated, or well-rounded, or where the story idea came from - don't think I'd be any good at fiction

last year i thought i'd try and write a book. everyone's always telling me i should write about all the fun things that have happened since having the twins, so i started it from the first scan, think i got as far as 6 months pregnant and lost interest lol and i'm not very consistant with my past and present tenses either so got myself confused  maybe one day i'll finish it :)

I'm with you on this Becky. I love reading and nothing I ever wrote came close so I just can't do fiction. I've been delighted to see my ES doesn't have my inhibitions and is currently working n his second novel (not up to publishing standard he's just doing it for his own enjoyment)

I loved the idea of A life on the Bog, very heartening that you truly can write a book about absolutely anything ! I wasn't as surprised when I looked it up that he started writing about visits to the bog in Japan though
