Falkor
I have just gotten off the phone from a very nice man called Phil at Orange having taken out a new contract and ordered the new 8900 Curve Blackberry. My thinking is this: currently I carry round a Filofax which is stuffed full of notes, names, addresses, telephone nos, shopping lists and all that Jazz, Egg tally and chooks medication/health diary too of course! Also I need to be able to recieve work emails and make calls on the go etc. I know most phones are email capable, have diaries and detailed contact books but I have never found them very user friendly. Plus it costs a small fortune to get onto the web every time SO..... I bit the bullet and ordered the blackberry with some bundle or other as the lovely Phil tells me that I can put all my scribblings into the blackberry and I can loose the filofax! Does anyone else have a blackberry? Would love to hear your thoughts...
Willow
I have a blackberry for work. I don't know what model as it was ordered for me and I'd resisted getting it as it meant people would expect answers 24x7. It's not as user friendly as my husbands iphone but is easier than the iphone for anything involving text entry as it has a teeny little keyboard. I don't think I could go back to not having one now. In an ideal world I'd have a blackberry for work and an iphone for personal use If I had to chose just one I'm not sure which I'd go for probably the blackberry but my OH is a huge iphone fan

Orange will have the i phone before xmas and I was considering waiting for that but having tried to text on my little bro's i phone I got a tad cheesed off with the touch screen. Plus I have an Ipod already so why do I need an iphone?

Redwing
Yes it is too easy to take work home with you I hated the operation, it was hard to use and awkward as they keyboard is fiddly, that coupled with the fact that it went off every five minutes made me hate it Also its easy to fddle with it and I fnd thats quite rude - I am constantly sat in meetings with people who are playing ob their Blackberries - not thats I would indicate that you would do such a thing of course! Patricia W
I had one for work and lost mine too and chose not to replace it. I found it intrusive and frustrating. You can't see attachments properly and so only get half the story. I now have a 3g card which I find much more useful for work. But I am not a lists person nor a techie and it was a couple of years ago so it may work for you. Tricia
Space Chick
Plus I have an Ipod already so why do I need an iphone? Having my iPhone means I can watch my girls wherever I am, I can play scrabble, I can send picture messages, I can check out the weather, I can play the drums... you name it. All this AND listen to my music on the go. Since having my iPhone I haven't used my MP3 player. I LOVE my iPhone I have a friend who loves her Blackberry though, she often emails me from her train commute

Cinnamon
I can't have an iphone,as Vodafone is the only network that works around here & although I know you can get them unblocked, there can be issues with the phone then not working properly So I have an HTC Magic, which is amazing - works on Google so I can link it with my online Google calendar We did have a Blackberry briefly, but hated it,so we sent it back
Woodcat
hey My mother use to swear by her blackberry calender. She is one of the most disorganised people on the planet but with it she managed to remember most of the things she had to do. She was given a windows media phone when the blackberry went wrong and so hasn't replaced it with another one however if she was buying a new phone i think she would deffinatly buy another one. Guest
HI Another colleague got a dongle as they hated their blackberry(keypad too small/phone too big compared to how we went from big phones to little phones..back to big blackberry phone etc) Now I have one via work and I hate it. Its slow and yes they can get you 24 hours a day! I hate the keypad most of all its so tiny(its half the key pad). I still come home and have to go onto my laptop as I find the attachments easier to read full page/use printer etc). Hate the blooming thing, dont get it, I just need a normal phone I can text/phone/calender could be useful but thats it. You have to have good eyesight to use a blackberry keys Sorry wouldnt recommend (prefer small laptop which I use to be able to fit in my handbag..would prefer a dongle?) indie
chickenNutter
Blackberries are the work of the Devil. When I am Prime Minister they will all be banned, so don't bother getting one Palmer07. I have been resisting one at work, after seeing all my colleagues become slaves to them. My OH is permenantly attached to his, and will sit there in restaurants gazing at it and not joining in the conversation. There is no Blackberry etiquette which tells you that it is supremely rude not to take an active part in a meeting rather than sitting there reading your e-mails ; nor have the horrid little bell go off every 5 minutes during the day to tell you a new message has arrived in your in-box, distrubing everyone else in the office. Don't start me..........
Willow
nor have the horrid little bell go off every 5 minutes during the day to tell you a new message has arrived in your in-box, distrubing everyone else in the office. Now that is just rude of them, there's no reason to have a sound go everytime an email arrives. My BB isn't set up to do that, just the little red light flashing. Afraid I like the keypad, but I do wonder how men with large stubby fingers cope it The main thing I find annoying about it is it isn't a great shape to tuck in my bra and the back slides off when I pull it out. I always kept my mobiles in my bra if I didn't want to take a handbag My OH keeps showing me cool things he can do with his iphone that I can't do with my BB although so far none any of them have been anything I've particularly wanted to do I wouldn't give it up without getting something with similar functionality in exchange now. chick wiggle
This isnt been much help for you really is it Em, half for and half against I feel, however that I must stick up for the iphone. It IS easy to use, so easy in fact that there is no instruction book, you dont need one, everything is on the front and so obvious how to use, you can get an app for absolutely everything, i've had mine over a year now and still finding new wonderful apps. The 'keyboard is practically the size of the screen so no squinting at tiny keys, plus you can have it in portrait or landscape mode just by turning the phone onto its side, the touch screen is great, I've never had a problem with it, having said all that, i have never had a blackberry so cant compare really Still no help eh? sorry

Chucky Mama
I have had a blackberry for 5 years and get on very well with it. I choose to have one as it is perfect for me to send and receive emails on the go. I have recently upgraded from the Pearl to the model that you are getting. I am very pleased with it. You quickly get used to the keyboard so I wouldn't worry about that. If you dont want to be disturbed by beeps etc when you receive an email or whatever you can just change your settings. For instance I set it to give a tone for emails during working hours and change to a tone for phone or email only after that. I found 'Blackberrys for dummies' useful when I got mine as didn't feel that I was making the most of it. I have music stored on it and also took some good video footage and whilst on holiday this week (my old pearl wouldn't take video). I love my blackberry, it suits me but I have not bothered comparing it to other smart phones so don't know about the speed thing other than to say that my Pearl was slow compared to this new Curve.
