chickenopolis
We had 2 roses delivered in the week, and OH went out in the garden this afternoon to prepare the soil for planting tomorrow. However, despite doing an excellent job of digging a hole next to our rose arch, he then declared "we don't have chicken in the basket - we have chicken in a hole". The girls are assisting him with the digging, clearing and generally getting the worms out of the way for him. It resulted in 2 fluffy bottoms sticking up in the air and a lot of boc boc. Who says the free simple pleasure in life are not good.

chelsea
They are marvellous garden helpers There is nothing like the simple pleasure of spending quality time with your girls I quite agree. Seagazer
Yes we've just concreted the small gap in the middle of our WIR today and cleaned them out and one of my little girls, Flo was keeping an eye on us. I think thats basically because she is in the middle of a moult and feeling very sorry for herself and the other two keep having a peck or two at her. I now smell disgustingly of anti-peck spray! But it was lovely to spend a good chunk of time with them.
stoice
My girls were 'helping' me clear two little veg patches I finally got round to clearing. They were on bug patrol and general excavation duty while I was in charge of clearing up debris and compost heap sorting. They looked so funny with their muddy toes and mucky beaks. Really nice afternoon.
docsquid
It is wonderful to do gardening with the chickens! Mine dug a lovely hole right outside the back door. As it happens, I wanted to dig this bed over but they have done it all for me. They then had a dust bath and sunbathed in the hole and finally Gwennie flew up onto the window-sill to take a look at what I was doing indoors - cheeky madam! I wish I could take them out to the front garden to dig some holes to plant my blackcurrant canes!
chick wiggle
Yes, i agree, what a lovely Saturday. After hardly seeing them all week (work - bleughghhh ) i've just spent most of the day with them, i even waited to go food shopping until after dark and they were all in bed! We now have a lovely clean cube, eglu and WIR, some very happy sleepy chooks, tummys full of lovely warm porridge and 1 very happy chook mummy

Snowy
I love it when they help with the gardening. Just be careful when you are digging - mine get a bit too enthusiastic under the spade
beulah59
I was trying to rake up some spilt straw from the compost heap ... caught Bridget's foot in the rake Had to call for help to get her out as she wouldn't stay still while I released her
