Space Chick
OH has managed to get his hand on some wooden crates, which he has broken up for the fire and stored them in a covered pile by the french doors. However, one piece went astray and typically as bad luck would have it it was a piece with 3 nails in it, nails up You can imagine what happened next, I was happily out the garden with the girls, filling their feeders etc whilst they were free-ranging. I was carrying a large bag of layers pellets and stepped on the piece of wood The nails went straight through my crocs, thankfully pain instincts cut in quickly and I lifted my foot back up again. No blood was drawn, but I do have marks on my feet. I'm just grateful the wood attacked me and not my girls. It was about 3 hrs ago that this happened and now my foot is starting to hurt If no blood was drawn, I can't have done any proper damage, can I
Lewis
I think Phil should wait on you tonight and you put your feet up You could have damaged something even though blood wasn't drawn
chelsea
Ouch that made me all of a quiver! I would maybe pop on some antiseptic cream or spray after a clean up of the area.
Chickvic
I did that when I was about 5 and speared my foot! I was running through long grass and it didn't hurt until I saw it It may be a bit bruised - although it didn't break the skin it may have been pushed in far enough to start aching. Any marks at all? Space Chick
There are marks I suppose this is one time when I am glad that the soles of my feet are like leather
Snowy
Oooh painful! I did the same on the allotment and the nail went straight through the crocs and my foot. Cue half a day spent in A&E waiting for a tetanus booster Do check it did not penetrate the skin - those kind of wounds are so high risk for tetanus. If not you may still have bruised it. I couldn't weight bear on my foot for a week!
Patricia W
Please be careful. Wash it really well and if it has penetrated the skin get it checked out. A friend is just recovering from septicemia - which resulted from an injury in the garden (rusty saw, cutting branch, slipped, cut knuckle, no blood) He nearly died, has only just escaped amputation and is off work for a month. Sorry to be Cassandra - but his experience has shocked me! Tricia
ClaireG
Ooh owwww that sounds really painfull Debs. Like the others have said make sure it didn't puncture your skin at all as you might need a tetnus jab.
Space Chick
Well the skin has been slightly broken I'm not sure when I last had a Tetanus jab, so will phone my GP in the morning to find out. OH is being very unsympathetic and is using the experience to get all his stand up material out. He reckons I am working for ITV on the quiet as they love Drama, and when I asked for a drink he offered to get me a Drambuie and whisky which anyone who knows cocktails will know is called a rusty nail
chickenNutter
There are marks!!?!? Marks??!?!?!? That is grounds for a night on the sofa with a hot and cold running OH, Thorntons chocolate truffles, a bottle of wine, and full rights to the remote control. Oh, and a warm chicken to cuddle. It's the law.
Cinnamon
Nasty!!! When we first moved in to this cottage & were doing it up, Hubby left strips of wood for the roof, nails up,on the driveway, & guess who reversed back into the driveway onto them & got 4 burst tyres Of course,it was all MY fault, not HIS
