jjmack
Hi, I am all set up. The eglu is in place, it is covered with a clear shower curtain etc etc all I now need are the chickens. I have tried to contact my local breeder (Maddies Chicks in Whittington) by phone and email but to no avail. My dtr and i are really keen to get going and really don't want to go elsewhere as they were really nice when we visited, but just incase they aren't contactable does anyone have any experience with other breeders in the staffordshire region. I am in Lichfield so would consider north birmingham too. Thanks
Lewis
Hi You're really local to me. Try Ash End Farm in Middleton, they sell rare breeds and and sell hybrids aswell - phone before you go to check they have what you want. I got mine from Cotswold Chickens in Banbury which might be a bit far to go, but they're really good Edited November 9, 2009 by Guest

jjmack
Wow, speedy response. The one near stafford looks great and I hadn't considered ash end farm. i have to psych myself up to go there as I don't like busy kid places (even though my kids love it), but they do keep their animals well so might be worth me braving it! Thanks

Thanks I used to work there You could go late afternoon, about quarter to 4 and pick them up as it should be a bit quieter. The chicken pens are right by the gate next to the car park so you don't have to go too far ... not that I'm biased
docsquid
I've also had problems contacting Maddie's Chicks. I was given the phone number for a place called Page's Poultry near Burton-upon-Trent when I went on the Omlet Hen Party a few weeks ago. I haven't been there myself, but it does come with a recommendation from experienced owners.
