ubereglu
Well, I came back from college this afternoon after actually having quite a nice day and looking forward to my Art trip to London today. As I was at college today I got Mum to go to the bank for me to check if my first wage packet had been paid in as I should have been paid yesterday. Well, turns out I haven't...Even though I was given my pay packet on Sunday... So, we phoned the company in question to ask what was going on. I know they have my bank account details as I've given them to them twice. Typically no one was there who I needed to talk too. What's more I've more or less been guilt-tripped into doing overtime and last week, when I did work on Thursday evening I was more or less unexpected and they just shoved me in another department to do some tidying... So overall I'm very fed up.
Cinnamon
Sorry Liz, but welcome to the working world I am afraid I am sure it will all seem a lot better once your pay is in your account
chelsea
Sorry to hear it Liz, is there any way they can give you an advance until next pay day?
ubereglu
Sorry to hear it Liz, is there any way they can give you an advance until next pay day? I'm not sure. Probably not though, but there wasn't anyone from that department in today.
BeckyBoo
there wasn't anyone from that department in today. Typical! And how rotten for your first pay packet. If it happens again don't do any more overtime until your money has cleared. That said, there can often be hiccups setting up new bank details, don't know why there should be but it seems to be fairly common. Hope it appears in your bank soon, work isn't always that bad, once you've got your feet properly under the table it'll probably seem a lot better. In the meantime BIG PURPLE HUGS!! The Dogmother
I'm sure there is a reason; as you're new, they might have had some delay in getting you onto the payroll. Oh well, at least you've got a job after wanting one so badly
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
And at least you don't have critical bills and a mortgage to pay. It will only be a relatively few days til they get it sorted.
Egluntyne
Look on the bright side.....at least you have a job when so many wish they had, especially at this time of year.
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Hear hear Egluntyne. As of September when the last official statistics were out Liz, there were 2.46 million people in this country registered unemployed who would be glad of some work and actually really need it. Jules.
Sorry to read this, Liz. I hope it gets sorted soon. I think this is a problem all companies have- I am now full-time & haven't been paid properly yet either.
ubereglu
Well at the minute I would have been better off not having a job as I could have used my time instead... What annoys me more is that I clearly am on the payroll-why else would I have got a pay slip??? Anyway, I'll phone them tomorrow...they might actually be in then...I'm just really annoyed, still, and they've broken their contract as legally they should have told me if there was a delay in getting me paid, when they haven't. Christian
Well at the minute I would have been better off not having a job as I could have used my time instead... But it is a part time job isn't it? Or was it just a temporary thing? It is just a mix up, annoying yes, but they will sort it out for you I'm sure! jess
It's actually worth them being late if it means they've sorted your tax code out properly
ubereglu
It's actually worth them being late if it means they've sorted your tax code out properly Well, they'd sorted that out...that was on my wages slip. Anyway, I phoned them today and they're sending me a cheque. It didn't work because they put in the number of the account...eg, which type it is, instead of the actual number... Never mind, at least it's sorted now.

chelsea
Great news Liz Don't spend it all at once! I remember when I was 16 and got my first monthly pay packet (£166.41 for full time work! ) I spent it all at once and had no money the rest of the month
Valkyrie
Mine was £116 - we worked for peanuts in the bank in those days! Glad you are finally sorted. Te$co's messed up my son's pay 3 times - he was told that they would take him on permanently after Christmas, but after we got involved I guess they classed him as a trouble maker - just because he wanted to be paid properly and each time they messed him about until OH stepped in for him. They also lied about his hourly rate that he was told he would get during the interview - he didn't even have a contract at the time. Remember to make sure you get a contract and read it very carefully. Anyhow you wanted a cheer up. Here you go
