Snowy
I picked her up this evening after work. No problems with Candy - lots of chasing around, sniffing and investigating. One small puddle at the bottom of the stairs Candy has collapsed on her bed in front of the fire, Rubes is snuggled against my leg on the settee. Had a bit of a whimper when she suddenly realised she had been here a while and her family weren't around But we had a cuddle and she's asleep now Candy hogging the bed (and the toys ) Ignore the messy floor - I'm waiting for the child labour to clean it up: Ruby checking out the settee potential: She's a fat little fluff monster! (another filthy floor - thanks to 2 sets of muddy paws ) Not been able to get many pics. She's either racing round like a little whirling dervish, or she's fast asleep I can't wait to take them for a walk tomorrow! I wonder if we'll get much sleep tonight? Seagazer
She looks lovely and I echo what the others have said in that she continues to settle in well. I hope you have a lovely walk today. ps my floor normally looks like that (not the toys - the mud). I can't believe how far up the wall Cookie can shake mud up! Snowy
Oh my word, what a night! OH was ready to send them both back this morning! She barked ALL night. And instead of lying down and showing her how it was done, Candy joined in. So we had a chorus of yip yip yip (Ruby), woo woo woo (Candy). I gave up and came downstairs at 5.30 Good job we can't be overheard by the neighbours! Lets hope she settles a bit more today!

chelsea
Oh dear Snowy - sounds like you've got a right pair there! Maybe they were carol singing?! Ruby is very lovely though and I am sure she will settle in soon. She's a lucky girl.
craftyhunnypie
Ahhhh she is lovely & so is Candy. Perhaps with walking them today you'll wear them out & they will both flop tonight? Why not try her with a piece of your clothing in her basket with your smell on - as a comforter? I'm sure she just needs lots of cuddles & reassurance. She will build up her trust in you & soon settle hopefully. Don't give up! Emma.x

Chook n Boo Mum
Snowy, another thing which sometimes helps when they get unsettled when alone, is to leave a radio playing quietly in the room........worked for our children and dogs !! Snowy
Well last night was much better! Good long walk yesterday morning and they both slept all day and Candy slept all night! She normally gives us a chorus when she is first put to bed, but last night - nothing! A couple of verses from Ruby through the night (but I was so tired I slept through them ) but nowhere near as bad. And no puddles this morning. Am just sat with my morning cup of tea watching them play - they have just discovered this so there is a lot of circling and grumbling and 'cuddling' going on I think we will leave the walkies until after church - it's tipping down now! With a bit of luck it might have stopped later on
Seagazer
I'm glad it was better last night. It must be so exciting for them to have each other, I'm sure it will all settle down once they realise they're both there to stay. I'm so fed up of walking in the rain..... Couperwife
Snowy, another thing which sometimes helps when they get unsettled when alone, is to leave a radio playing quietly in the room I did this when I cat-sat for someone when they went on holiday the very quiet cat that they left with me found a voice and became this very chatty kitty on their return im sure that ruby will settle down soon was last night any better? cathy x
Couperwife
note to self... read the rest of the thread before posting im glad last night was better, it must have been first night unsettled-ness... or maybe it was the girls having their first sleepover and chattering all night cathy x
The Dogmother
Glad to hear that they are settling in Snowy - they make a lovely pair. I don't mind wet walks, so long as I've got top to toe waterproofs on. The rain tends to wash the dog clean too We'll have to come up your way after Christmas and give all three a long run together. Rubes will run the legs off anything.... will be interesting having two Rubys though

(Rubes just waddles at the moment but we're getting there ) Would be interesting to see if either Ruby would respond to their name Mine definitely has springer ears They have both settled down brilliantly now. No more nightwoofs from either of them
