Guest
Wow Lesley, bees Don't tell Dan, he keeps going on about keeping bees PS Sorry to hear about Tallulah, but she helped lead you down a path towards 'the good life'
Looney
Bees sound like a fab addition Lesley! My sort-of-Uncle (he was a family friend type of Uncle) used to keep bees and I was always fascinated by it all He was actually extremely allergic to bee stings but kept them for years with only a couple of emergency trips to A&E! Your farm sounds great - what a lot of hard work you are putting in! I love hearing about what progress you are making. Chicks look gorgeous! feemcg
My chicks went out at the beginning of the week Lesley, and are thriving. I was worried because most people say 6 weeks and mine were just 3 1/2 but they're in the eglu in a covered run, and I kept sticking my hand into the 'chick pile' when they were sleeping and they were toasty warm. Its lovely to see them having more room to run around and play-fight.
Martin B
I recon that any chicks I have will go into the new green eglu at about 4 weeks to get some excercise before coming in for the night and the bantams moving back into their house, Bit unsure though about what to do! The Dogmother
You really need seperate, secure accommodation for them Martin. Bear in mind that the silly little eejits will happily stick their heads through the run mesh though. I put some boards along the bottom of the run on the outside so that Biscuit didn't feel tempted to bite their heads off.
feemcg
Skye, one of my big girls, was poking her beak into the chick's run and a wee crowd gathered to peck her beak - she was mesmerised!

Lesley
Ours are nearly 4 weeks so will probably go out at the weekend. I turned their heat lamp off yesterday morning - and forgot to turn it on again at night I think I'll leave it off now.
