pepe
We've got gales in the early hours/tomorrow am!I've got the rabbits battened down from last time!(the run I mean )
gooner.girl
apparently the cold snap is coming Sunday/monday...so dig out yer woolies! Oh great. I love the cold and snow, its just my job is particuarly rubbish when the weather is not bad enough to stay in but freezing and wet when you go out. Teaching football to a bunch of shivering 9 year olds intent on kicking up mud is not always much fun, particuarly when you're freezing and wet yourself, still goes with the territory i supose so can't moan to much... My job is particuarly lovely in the summer... 11 year olds playing rounders with the sun blazing down... Lovely!
The Dogmother
Ooo, REAL SNOW Thanks Sarah. I do so love snow, but like Laura, I'm a tropical bird at heart. It's just nice to have a change sometimes.
Louise
I have snow this morning and a pretty touchy drive to work One of the main roads into Edinburgh is closed and the traffic diversion is through my normal road which is a nightmare so my alternative is to go more rural which involves going through Roslin Glen which is gorgeous BUT it has a 16% hill at either end I was impressed my little car got both down and up in one piece today I nearlly took my normal route because of the weather but it was even more busy today so I would still be sat in traffic now
The Dogmother
Take care Louise. The wind here this morning is horrendous. Our MD has just set off up the M40 to Birmingham and phoned back to say that it was so bad he could hardly keep his car on the road It's not at all cold, but heavy showers. Egluntyne
Raining stair rods in Sheffield. What a contrast to yesterday! Absolutely horrendous. My chickens almost flooded. Am so glad I relocated them into higher ground (that was my Christmas Present!) Their old quarters are completely submerged. As it is, water is lapping round their concrete foundations. We have a dry stone wall, and if I go out and poke a bamboo cane through the gaps, the water runs away......trouble is, is soon silts up again. Have to do it two or three times a day when the weather is like this! Bum!
Louise
Its raining here now but no strong winds yet I think that is for this afternoon Still the snow won't last long now

Christian
Just been out togive Laverne her baytril tablet for the morning and nearly got blown over! (my frame isnt that slight! (only 3 stone to go)! It is sooooo windy here! Thinking about locking the girls in their run for the day!
The Dogmother
I've left mine in the run Christian - they wouldn't be happy with all this wind and rain - they're little banties and would get blown away.
Christian
I think my girls are a bit 'special'. They are always out in the rian. I have the summer and winter shade and a shower curtain, but they always stand outside We are on the edge of Salisbury Plain and according to Postie Chris, we get bad wind/snow blown from the Plain. Yay - snow! Can't wait. Just been signed off work til the end of january, bad back! OH is off too after his Op. Now talk of strike again at work. Nightmare! Its all too much! Be safe everyone, its horrible out there!

Lesley
It's vile here today as well - horizontal rain Son is here and Carl is going to work from home. They've just turned the chicken ark and its platform through 90% so that hopefully, we won't have a re-run of last week when it disappeared in a freak gust of wind The Eglus all stayed put in that storm but they've changed them around so they are facing away from the wind. We've got a couple of roofs which we are keeping an eye on We've had to cancel Jazz's training session this afternoon. Haven't seen your MD flying past yet Clare
The Dogmother
Haven't seen your MD flying past yet Clare Watch out for him Lesley - silver Peugeot estate Christian - have you tried an osteopath for your back? I slipped a disc on Christmas day and was in agony - I went to see him on the Wednesday after Christmas and it got better very quickly
Egluntyne
Him Indoors has just fetched up home unexpectedly....was supposed to be on the train to London....but they are all off because of the rain....and the likelihood of getting back is slim if he went the long way round as more cancellations are expected. Bloomin' 'eck.....the wrong sort of rain I suppose. When I was a child (here we go again, Lesley!) I never remember my Dad not getting down to London because of rain stopping trains....and that was in the golden age of steam for goodness sake. He is now conferencing calling...using the "what the hell have we wasted good money on this fancy thing for"...telephone! And....you'll love this.....I am under instruction not to hoover "or make a noise of any kind"......am walking around on my eyelashes. At least they'll sweep the floor as I go. (I wish!) Local weather update...Hailing stones the size of marbles but at the same time blue sky and sunshine. Quite a contrast to half an hour ago! Am off to see Chocchick and her new babies this pm. Egluntyne
Flash of ingenuity from me ....re my flood and dry stone wall. Rammed a bit of hosepipe onto bamboo cane, shoved it through gaps in wall (x3) , withdrew cane and water positively gushed through pipes and drained away very quickly. Not just a hat rack
