Snowy
Egluntine - great idea about the hosepipe, hope it keeps the floods at bay! Claret - yes can just imagine Phil's hairdo getting spoilt, what does it do, take the shine off?? It's been incredibly windy here. We only got the stair rod rain when I decided to walk to playgroup to take and collect the kids. As soon as we got home, it stopped!! All the anoraks are now dripping on the radiator, and we're on our third pair of trousers so far. Still got to go out again, but it's the car this time - only across the village, but I'm afraid the environmental issues are slightly lower on my priorities today! The Dogmother
Great idea Egluntine I've just been blown back from lunch (at least it wasn't raining this time), the girls are safe in their run and the bunnies are battened down. The wind seems to be getting worse here now
Trish
Humph mini green house is horizontal again, think I might just leave it there till summer this time. My girls are very "special" and don't seem to care about being out in the rain and wind etc.
Happy-Mama
Haven't had any here yet, really hope we don't it makes the journey to work frightful. Once it took 6hrs to do a 30 minute commute. Does anyone work from home when the weather is bad?

The Dogmother
Whereabouts are you Jen?
Happy-Mama
North East of Scotland. I know I should be used to the snow now This winter has been very mild so far apart from the wind and rain. Today is sunny but a bit cold, not freezing though as would normally be expected for this time of year.

xraylady
Flash of ingenuity from me ....re my flood and dry stone wall. Rammed a bit of hosepipe onto bamboo cane, shoved it through gaps in wall (x3) , withdrew cane and water positively gushed through pipes and drained away very quickly. Not just a hat rack Brilliant! am forwarding above to Institute of Civil Engineers - expect membership committee to approve addition of letters to your signature Egluntine N.J.H.R. Egluntyne
Bit of excitement on the way to Chocchick's this pm. Went the "scenic" route down Common Lane off Ringinglow Road. Had to stop my car as a sizeable branch had come off a tree and was blocking the doad. Dragged it out of the way and carried on down the road. Next thing you know, there was an ear splitting crack and a huge tree fell right across the road, about 150 yards ahead, completely blocking the road. Phew.....a bit too close for comfort!! Some Street Force chaps were dealing with the first tree when I turned round, so they hot footed it down to attend to the bigger one. PS: Chocchick's new additions are scrumptious. Egluntyne
That was a close call - bet it gave your heart a workout Funnily enough...dead calm at the time. Recounted the saga gaily to Chocchick. Came home and turned on the news and when I see what has happened to others...I feel very lucky.

Egluntyne
Not just a hat rack What a brilliant expression - I must remember that one Borrowed it from my son....he's full of interesting sayings. He described someone the other day as being "as nasty as a sack of ferrets". Fantastically descriptive!.

Egluntyne
Its snowing like billyoh here. Has been snowing for about 2 hours and it's a winter wonderland outside. Typically...no sign of the gritting lorries even though Sheffield was specifically mentioned on last nights news.
