Raina
Hi all, Just a bit curious. Is it easy to introduce a lone cockerel to 2+ hen's? Thanks, Raina
Egluntyne
Depends on his age in relation to the hens, and his size.

Pikey
I put two Fleur and Olive straight in with Cole.....he was about 22 weeks and they were about 17. Olive and Cole fronted up to each other and there were a few pecks between the girls and cole. It then took about a week for him to act like a husband and for them to accept him as one. They are now my 3 love birds
Daphne
We had ours in isolation for 3-4 days to make sure he was OK (should have been a week but he started crowing his head off and we couldn't stand it). One day he was out for a short walk and saw the hens in the pen, he launched himself at the netting and we put him back in isolation thinking he was going to attack them. Next day they were FR and we decided to try again. This time he escaped before we had a chance to pick him up, charged across about 100ft of grass, jumped on middle aged maiden Top Hen, mated with her and has been cock of the harem ever since He was about 6 months old and raring to go. They were aged between 1 and 4 years old.
Redwing
I have put cockerels straight in with hens providing they are of similar size and old enough to look after themselves Any new stock should be isolated first for at least a week to ensure its not ill though
