Muck Boots

Recommended Posts

Muckers, and their variations have been about since I had horses 20 years ago, I remember them first coming out. Can heartily recommend, practical waterproof and warm, and if you go for a cheaper take-off they are just as good but cheaper, just as practical as walking boots. A bit like cheaper versions of crocs.

Everyone should have some. Treat yourself - because you're worth it! 8)

When they stretch to fit larger calves does it make them tighter?

Not really, they are quite stretchy and give well so dont feel vice like but do feel distinctly snugger, you wont have any problems though

I do like them as you can fold the top part of the short boots down to make ankle wellies

I have a pair of Derwent muck boots which have been a great success. They keep my feet lovely and warm and have not made my chilblains worse!! The only thing I would say as the proud owner of a pair of chicken legs (you've got the image) is that I do get chapped legs where the loose tops rub! I wear them to do chicken stuff, walk the dog, and in this weather they are my footwear of choice for moving around the village. I recommend them

ANH sorry you havent had them yet (ironic as you wanted them for the snow) I just wanted to chip in and say if you are buying Muck Boots have a look at the site http://www.discountwellies.co.uk/MuckBoot.asp and choose the type you need as the soles are very different. The classic ones the 'Tack' arent grippy enough for me in the mud as we are so hilly here and the lack of heel means I cant ride in them, I have the 'Tyne', which are also longer and slimmer cut for riding. I bought them just before the snow, go me! They really are worth every penny if you are out in the elements.

Gah, now I need these too!

Actually, my Hunter wellies have a split in them, and they were freezing when I was playing in the snow with a neighbour's child the other day...

Poet, that website has sold out of nearly all of them! Have we started another Omlet avalanche of spending here?

Off to hunt out the cheapest Tay Muckboots I can find.... Will report back!

We had to go to the Farm Merchants this morning - and they sell Muck Boots.

I'm so glad I was able to try them on

I really liked the purple Tack Boots - but I couldn't get them on :( I did have my trousers tucked in my socks but that is what I do so they had to fit over them. I tried folding the top over so they were shorter but they weren't having any of it :( I've been losing weight and my calves aren't that enormous any more :( I tried a bigger size but still had the same problem.

I tried the Tay boots - they fitted but are quite heavy. I still don't have full use of one leg and they would just be too heavy in the mud so I didn't buy any :( I'll stick with my Crocs wellies - and Yaktrax :D

Carl's wellies had split and so he was going to get some more - I made him try the Tay's on- he loved them and is really pleased with them! He won't stop raving about them

You omlet lot are soooo bad...have been thinking about getting some wellies for ages...had baulked at paying £20...so instead today I have ordered Tay MuckBoots for a considerable amount more..!

Also fed up of slipping and sliding in the snow so ordered some of these http://www.yaktrax.co.uk/shop/yaktrax.php of course they are on a backorder and no doubt the snow will be long gone by the time they arrive...but I will be prepared for next time..or selling them on e-bay :D

Edited to say...I see you already have Yaktrax Lesley... I bet there is a thread on here about them somewhere...I should have know you can always read it on here first
