PeckyBeak
We wanted to add a Welsummer to the flock end November, While we were there, OH saw a younger chicken approx. 12 weeks that he fell in love with (called her Princess) The boss man wasn't there and assistant didn't know what sort Princess was. He said she was a cross, or an accidental cross when the rooster escaped. Yes, you're right, we won't be going there again. However, at least OH was interested in having a new chicken. She has a beautiful long tail which she fans out. She still hasn't laid yet so can't help with egg colour, but any ideas of what she is would be great. chick wiggle
Looks like maybe a little bit of cream legbar in there? Whatever she is, she is certainly a Princess and beautiful!
Redwing
The face and tail are a bit game bird like Where there is a cross with a hairdo there is normally a naughty Silkie in there somewhere
Space Chick
I was going to say part what Chick Wiggle said and part what Redwing said. If I was going to guess I'd say Cream Legbar crossed with some kind of Game Bird Pretty little girl though
Griffin
I think there's definitely some Modern Game in there. Her head, apart from the hair-do, are very much MG, so is the tail and a lot of the hard body shape is there. Judging by the colouring the MG parent was a gold birchen. Here are my Modern Games, you can see the similarities
Redwing
It could be a pure breed, check out the third pic down on this page: http://www.northamptonanddistrictpoultryclub.com/Show%20Results.htm 'Grey Carlisle OEG'
beulah59
No idea, but what amazing colouring
Valkyrie
Lovely bird - what a beautiful tail. Redwing's link looks like a big possibility - has the tufty bonce too.
Carol U
I would say definitely a legbar cross. Don't know with what! She's very beautiful though. Do let us know what colour eggs when she lays.
The Dogmother
Colouring and head tuft make me think she has some legbar in her, you might just get blue-ish eggs from her, although her earlobes are red, which would indicate brown eggs.. PeckyBeak
Thanks all of you for your comments. After you had pointed me in the right direction Redwing, SpaceChick and Griffin, I searched the internet and found feathersite.com which is a pretty good likeness. I think you were right about her having some Gamebird in her it shows in how she stands aswell. I also see the Legbar hairdo likeness. Think we might be getting an egg soon as she crouched for me yesterday and was investigating the egg box. Will let you know what colour it is when she lays. Perhaps we weren't sold such a pup after all. In any case, she is beautiful. Perhaps I should let OH choose another one?
ubereglu
She definitely looks like a Cream Legbar/Game bird cross. Due to her tuft and colouring and due to her stance. She does look lovely though. I think you'll get blue or brown eggs off her.
PeckyBeak
Well, here is her first egg as promised, she looks a bit surprised, not blue, not brown, but pure white... What do you think of that then
Tutti Frutti
WOW! She's beautiful and a lovely egg. I think you should have a caption competition "I don't remember eating that?" hehe No idea what she is though Can you ring the place you bought her from and ask the boss? Redwing
You're probably right with your research then, according to this very useful website OEG birds lay white to light tinted eggs http://www.ithaca.edu/staff/jhenderson/chooks/chooks.html
