Ladylucan
After getting up really early to let the girls out (earlier than normal) and have a natter with them, i am finding myself logging onto the computer and signing into Omlet to find out if there are any new posts, and generally to find out if anything new is going on, !!!< (Obviously i make a cuppa first) Does the effect wear off, or is this a long term thing????? this even comes before my breakfast, ..... frightening eh!!! To me , this is like having a new great big extended family, (sorry folks) and i do feel like a pain sometimes keeps asking questions, but you are all so friendly and helpful that i do enjoy the chats. Well Thankyou all for being so helpful, and i have recommended this site to loads of people who have admired my chooks, Many Thanks x

Mrs Frugal
I'll move it to the Nesting Box, Tracey! We all get carried away in our excitement to post so don't worry. I've been doing this morning check in for nearly a year now so no, it doens't get better. Worse, in fact .
Alison M
Hi Ladylucan, I feel exaxtly the same as you. I live in a remote area and work from home, so don't see many people, but I now feel that I have an extended family and know that I can 'communicate' with somebody virtually 24/7, and the help and advice that you get on the forum is brilliant. Look forward to chatting with you.
Sheilaz
Glad you're enjoying it Tracey, and I don't think its sad...its great! It can take over a bit but there are worse vices! I've found this forum to be a place where I've met loads of like minded people, with many things in common, all in one go! Long live the forum
AnnieP
OK, so its 11.45 and I'm still in my dressing gown sitting at this computer....but it is raining....and I did get up at 7.00 to let the girls out (Barber coat over pyjamas to keep me dry). So that's OK isn't it??
Sheilaz
Absolutely! Stay there & I'll bring you a cup of tea. I'm feeling obliged to get properly dressed at 7 every day whether I need to or not, due to lots of men wandering around kitchen, garden, scaffolding outside all windows. Pouring here today so they've all got their shirts on. Did I just say that!? We had a topic going a while back Annie, on suitable eglu-checking attire. This ranged from nothing , through babydoll nightie plus husbands wellies to assorted PJ's, macs, slippers & clogs. What topic are we on, I forgot when I got to the T shirts off bit
Popcorn
We are a bit but I'll continue in this vain anyway! Yes, Sheila, I remember that thread too. Wasn't it Buffie or Nicola who said she wore her most expensive lippy to let the girls out in the morning
AnnieP
My neighbours are used to seeing me in my pyjamas and wellies...It completes the image of "Batty childless woman who owns donkeys and chickens".
Popcorn
Well, you wouldn't want to let anyone down now would you Annie!
AnnieP
We have a reputation to maintain after all....right...off to get dressed...now, where is that purple frilly crocheted tank top and my lime green lycra cycling shorts?.....
Mrs Frugal
Don't forget the rainbow striped legwarmers and headband.

Louise
Youll find the reference to the legwarmers in the 80's nostalgia thread I think
The Dogmother
Sounds like me - got back from hols on Saturday and brought the sunshine back with us, but it was pouring down this morning and I had left the washing out, so rushed out in my PJs, dressing gown, anorak and pink (boden) wellies to bring it in - must have looked a right sight! Still the neighbours think I am batty anyway and are used to seeing me hanging out the washing in my nightie, or chopping wood in my bikini, sunhat and wellies - still got to multi-task haven't we? I remember the stripey leg warmers, they went with my stripey toed socks and watching Fame on telly! Clare Taylor
Ladylucan
Well, its so nice to know i am not the only 'batty' woman to run out to the garden in her nighty!!!, good job i not really overlooked it would frighten the neighbours. Thank you all for makin me feel so welcome. x
AnnieP
I trust the two giant land snails and the chickens will be kept asunder?...It could be messy otherwise!!
Ladylucan
Whoops, i didnt even think of that!!!!, thankfully though the snails are in a tank indoors, and at the moment the chooks havent figured a way out of the big run, ( well with the exception of Penny but we put paid to that idea) i am expecting the day when i see them come wondering in the back door, but then everyone thinks we own a farm anyway so it wouldnt surprise me, xx
Leigh
I get dressed (well I say dressed, jogging bottoms and baggy tshirt) to walk Khan first thing every morning. If I didnt, he wouldnt get walked at all! So, my neighbours never get to see me in my nighty, which is a good thing as I dont wear one I sometimes get properly dressed by umm 12ish
Popcorn
Gosh - walking the dog in your nightie wouldn't be such a good idea then Leigh...then again, at least you'd have somewhere to hang your hat
Happymama
I've got DH trained to let the hens out, and if he forgets (if it's raining) DS (5) trots down to open it to let them out, then collect the eggs when we all get up a bit later. DS threw a tearful fit today 'cos Dad fetched the eggs in and let the hens out, as he had plenty of time - no, I don't understand why he gets up at 6.30 either when he doesn't have to, but there you go ... I sit outside and talk to them, and feed them titbits, and clear up after them, and move the eglu, and clean the eglue, and fill/clean the peanuts, and no doubt will be taking them to the vets if I ever need to, and I buy the food etc myself ... So really it's a small mercy that I don't do the morning shift!
daisy duck
Lady Lucan I know just how you feel.We don't live near any family and have moved a few times ,it can be a bit isolating. It is very nice to find such like minded people hence my enthusiasm as you can see by the posting time. Charlotte and Phil
hello all Its sooo nice to know that I am not the only one out talking to chickens all hours etc, only problem is we are surrounded by neighbours who must have a really good view of me as there's not too much privacy round here ..... luckinly they all seem quite understanding so far, and all seem to like the chickens which is handy ....... several comments about how relaxing they are to watch ...... don't i just know it! I'm supposed to be getting a million and one jobs done around the house this week before holiday and new job, so far only done a lot of chicken watching and long dog walking (the walks not the dog) all the things I can't really do when working ....... AND WHAT AM I DOING on the forum!! even worse ..... must go and motivate myself!
The Dogmother
The forum is a great work avoidance technique, isn't it? You should see me down the garden at 6.30am, dressing gown, pink wellies talking to the chooks and bunnies. No wonder the neighbours think I have lost the plot!
