Lesley
The R&J book club always seemed to be novels so I never bothered. I asked Carl for a couple of books off the unread pile last night as I finished Going Postal - now I've got to choose between Tony Hawks 'A Piano in the Pyrenees', follow up to 'Around Ireland with a Fridge', and 'The Short Life and Long Times of Mrs. Beeton' by Kathryn Hughes. Like Pam, I'll probably start them both I'm trying to take it easy today so as well as the books, I'll try to catch up with the Country Smallholder magazines which will be too out of date to read soon Edited February 19, 2007 by Guest

Looney
Last book I read was lovely bones, about a little girl who was murdered by a neighbour, and the story was her view from heaven very sad, but got you thinking about the next life. I read this too - very moving.

I read this too - very moving. Yes,that is a great book. "The 5 people you meet in Heaven" by Mitch Albom is also really good,& makes you think about the same sort of stuff. I recommend it to anyone who has lost someone they love- its a beautiful book.

Popcorn
Lesley - you have to read Round Ireland with a Fridge. Quite amusing! Chicky - Playground Mafia - I have to say it's a million miles removed from my life, but I do know people who think they are self important like some of the characters in the book. Makes you glad to be who you are. There's something to be said about being happy with your lot. I'm only into the first quarter, so I'm intrigued to find out how it all pans out. It's very amusing and I am enjoying it.

kannie
I loved Lovely Bones and Tale of a Curious Dog too! I've finally handed in my dissertation, and up till then read nothing but text books: celebrated by reading Victoria Hislops 'The Island', which I really enjoyed. Made me want to go back to Greece. Back on the text books again now though: about Calder, Matisse, etc.
