Dangerous driving

Recommended Posts

Had a wonderful example of really bad driving today i was going along the m25 and pulled into the middle lane as we were coming up to a slip roa because there was a lorry that i was about to overtake and one guy pulled out of the slip road and then just as i was about one car length from over taking the lorry a guy pulled out of the slip road and then accelerated and pulled out infront of me so close that i couldn't see his number plate or the badge on the back of his car. To do this he had to get so close to the lorry that if it had braked even slightly he would have gone into it and if i hadn't hit the breaks as fast as i did when i saw him start to come he would have taken the front of my car out. It's was so silly.

Then slightly later coming the other way along the m25 a motorbike undertook me between myself and a lorry in my lane when i was doing 70. If i had twitched even slightly he would been hit and i had no chance to see what he was doing because he came up so fast. People like that are so thick because they only think it's my life it's my choice to do silly things they don't think about the fact that another driver will have to live with having killed them even if it's not the other drives fault

That wouldn't bother me - a limit is a limit, not the speed you should be travelling at,but the speed you shouldn't go over. I would rather people travelled at the speed they felt safe & comfortable with .

here here :D I'd rather have an accident with someone going to slowly than someone going to fast.

I agree. A few years ago I was driving to a friend's house in incredibly heavy rain. I was in my little old Metro with three speed wipers and still didn't have a great view as it looked like someone was throwing buckets of water at the car. I was on a very fast dual carriageway, but slowed down to 35mph as visibility was pretty poor, and the road surface was flooded with water (I aquaplaned at one point, and it frightened the life out of me). Every other car on that road flew past me at 60mph, the speed limit on that road. I also got caught in all their splash too.

I have to concur with those who have had trouble with pedestrians. the pedestrian attitude in Brum seems to be 'I have right of way wherever I want to go, even if I don't look before crossing roads, and if you hit me I will sue you and make lots of money'. People just step out in front of you at any given moment, it's a nightmare.

I wasn't suggesting that everyone should drive at the top speed limit for every road, all the time. Obviously there are situations where it is unsafe to drive at the speed limit. But, if you are driving along at the speed limit, and the road is clear, and then you come across someone who is driving at 45mph in a 60mph area, then its annoying. It does amaze me how fast some people will drive on the motorway or dual carriage way in the rain  As for the drivers who pootle along slowly, but the minute it is safe for you to overtake, they speed up! We have had that happen a few times, and its very dangerous, and scary. Incidently, I can't drive. I'm just saying all this from the perspective of a passenger :)

I do know what you mean. There is a straight piece of road near here where, for some reason, people seem to think that it is a 40 mph area and, more amazingly, actually go less than that. It is actually 60 mph and I get annoyed when I am stuck behind someone going at that speed.

My New Year's Resolution was to be more patient on the road and, whilst it's not working 100% of the time, I do find that it makes me a better driver when I am not ranting away.

Erin was cut up on the mini roundabout this week where I had my accident the other year (I say accident - idiot driver didn't wait for me to exit before he came out between me and the car behind me) - the van drove OVER the roundabout instead of around it.

Another example of bad driving on way to my mum's yesterday (they must breed them there).

It was bin day so the bin lorry had stopped just in front of an pedestrian island, waiting for the dustmen to put the bins in, the complete moron (hope I can use that word  ) in front of me decided he couldn't wait for 1 minute for the bins to be emptied and went onto the other side of the road nearly head on into a car coming down that side of the road. What a complete idiot. Really, is it so important to be 1 or 2 minutes earlier? Is a possible head on crash really worth it?
