Cinnamon
I am just back from a trip out,& I was following a Parcelforce van, which was in turn following a rather slow vehicle. No biggie for most of us,but I could simply not believe my eyes when we came to a roundabout (a medium sized one,not a mini one) & the Parcelforce driver went round it the wrong way in order to get in front of the slower car I took his numer plate down & have been trying to contact Parcelforce to report him,but gave up after being placed on hold for 20 mins
Chucky Mama
What a shocker. I would definately report them. Where are the police cars when you need them
Tiggy
oooh that sounds dodgy, one more on the list for vehicles to avoid, along with dray waggons from the brewery
patsylabrador
It sounds like a stupid and dangerous thing to do but slow drivers can push other drivers beyond the point of sanity. Hopefully the delivery driver just lost it on this one occasion.
Cinnamon
Apparently not............... I got through to PF who put me through to the local Depot. They know who it was,& the manager says that he is well known for driving like an idiot, which rather begs the question why they still let him drive their vans, really He will be 'spoken to'. Again. jlo
Last year in Court, a young lad was banned for dangerous driving for doing precisely that. He managed to do it whilst being followed by an off duty policeman!
patsylabrador
Fair enough - in that case, what an idiot! It's most unlike me to give somone the benefit of the doubt. Shan't try that again.
jlo
Fair enough - in that case, what an idiot! It's most unlike me to give somone the benefit of the doubt. Shan't try that again. You are quite right to say that slow drivers can cause problems though. I was behind one on an unrestricted road a couple of weeks ago. He was tootling along in his car at about 35 miles per hour. It is quite a dangerous road so I just stayed calm and sat behind him (most unlike me!) Then we came upon a tractor and I thought that we would be there for the duration. This guy just carried on at 35 mps and overtook without even checking to see what was ahead. There was a van coming and it and the tractor had to stop so that a collision was avoided. I am sure that this person will boast that they have never had an accident (just left loads in their wake!)

Egluntyne
Good grief! Is it worth reporting the matter to the police?
The Dogmother
Golly Sarah, well done for reporting him - I've done the same in the past.
BeckyBoo
Certainly in Surrey you can make a report of dangerous driving to the police. Trouble is here you have to trek in to your local police station which may or may not be open, or moved, or have a long queue If the manager knew straight away that's pretty poor really. Mind you, some of them are under horrendous time pressures, not that it's an excuse. BeckyBoo
Redwing
Its maybe worth sending a letter to the head office, the depot are probably having a joke about it if you send a letter and then also comment the 'relaxed' reaction that you had from the depot perhaps more will be done
WarrensWorld
Sorry but, you can fail your test for driving to slow. Perhaps you should be reporting the driver of the car too. Just a thought.....
Valkyrie
Coming back from Frimley up the M3 last week was overtaken by a VW Golf. It then stayed by my side until another guy overtook him and then they raced up to the car in front of me and all 3 roared off side by side. I was a bit concerned when he wouldn't go past me for about 5 minutes. Didn't make eye contact and pretended not to notice and carried on singing away! Maybe that's why they shot off. Dangerous driving should be reported if you can get the number.
Seagazer
That's terrible, I'm glad you reported him. I think I would have informed the police too.
Cinnamon
Sorry but, you can fail your test for driving to slow. Perhaps you should be reporting the driver of the car too.Just a thought..... Should have been more specific.....it was a road sweeper. And he took the first exit on the roundabout, when parcelforce man and I were going right,so he was out of our way almost right away anyhow. In fact both of us were only caught behind him for 100 feet or so
Geoid
If everyone was more patient on the roads, there would be a lot less accidents. Going the wrong way round a roundabout, how much time will that save? 30 seconds, not worth it.
SarahJo
I would def report it - today I stopped at a crossing (lighted pedestrian) to let the secondary school children across, the van opposite me proceeded on the red when the children were only half way across . No excuse - these people end up seriously hurting others, then usually manage to walk away unharmed themselves
bluekarin
Mad van driver. It only would have taken someone approaching the roundabout from the other direction, and it would have been a different story. I hate it that drivers can't wait just a few seconds for people to cross the roads safely. I also hate it when people don't cross roads with care. I was in town today at a Pelican crossing with my DS. The Pelican crossing was green as we approached and a couple of people were crossing, but as we got to the kerb it went to flashing so we didn't start to cross. However, one of the people already crossing, a school boy, was almost to the other side, and almost got hit by an impatient driver with his family in the car, as he just couldn't wait an extra second or two for the boy to cross safely. Makes me But it is infuriating when you get stuck behind someone doing 45 in a 60 MPH area. Its like they have decided that 60 is far too fast so they will set the speed limit. I do remember my aunt got pulled over by the police for being too slow on the dual carriage way round here. She was doing about 40 - in a 40 MPH limit!!! It was a few years ago though. Seagazer
Driving to my mum's house yesterday I saw one example of bad driving and one of a pedestrian, one elderly gentleman was driving very slowly in front of me and nearly went head on into another car. The road has these wide islands in so you have to wait for cars coming down the other way to pass and you drive on their side of the road. He literally carried on and just drove on the other side, there was a car coming and luckily the lady stopped. We were both shaking our heads in wonder. A little further down the road a van had pulled out safely in front of me and then indicated to turn right. A young lad, probably about 12, was talking on his mobile and just walked into the road without looking at all. Thankfully the van driver was fully aware of the boy and stopped in plenty of time. He appeared to be having a 'chat' with the young lad. I really hope the boy takes on board quite how close he came to getting run over. Its like they have decided that 60 is far too fast so they will set the speed limit. That wouldn't bother me - a limit is a limit, not the speed you should be travelling at,but the speed you shouldn't go over. I would rather people travelled at the speed they felt safe & comfortable with (apart from the muppet who went at 18mph in a 30 zone all the way to Henley yesterday ) My eldest girl is learning to drive & she has had blokes (always men) in cars go round & past her at traffic lights & junctions when she is in her BSM car. Seagazer
I hate people who aren't patient with learners. We were all learners at some stage and it really doesn't help getting impatient with them and this comes from someone who lives in a road that all the learners in the borough tend to use to practise parking, reversing round the corner and emergency stops in
patsylabrador
Now this is what I call dangerous driving! crash
chickweed
We had a very lucky escape on the M6 in Birmingham when we were towing a loaded trailer. A car overtook us and cut us up. My husband flashed the lights (as you do) and after about a mile the offending driver breaked sharply and came to a stop. As we were skidding to a halt the other car pulled away at speed. Luckily and very unusually, there were no vehicles close behind us. The outcome doesn't bear thinking about. That driver deliberately tried to cause an accident, and that sort of behaviour is not that rare apparently. We were so shaken by the incident that we didn't get the car's registration.
