xScrunchee
Could someone please try to explain the size of a bale of hemcore to me? Y'know-like as big as a -----, aint no point telling me in weight, could try feet and inches I suppose. I want some but wonder where the heck I'm gonna store it cos I don't want any little mousey families getting in and setting up home. I'm guessing it's bigger than a matchbox-smaller than a car!? The Dogmother
OK, a bale is about 3' high and 2' square across. Weighs about 20kg and lasts for ages.
bronze
Why do you think I get hemcore not auboise?
The Dogmother
Not sure what you mean there Bron... They're very similar. I get Hemcore if it's available locally because it's British made. But it is co"Ooops, word censored!"r then Aubiose in texture, the bales are exactly the same size, but Hemcore has the advantage of being impreganted with citronella to ward off flies, although I can't smell or notice any difference. I suspect that it's a selling point and is there in such small quantities that it doen't make much odds really.
bronze
I get hemcore because Hubby can pronounce it when he goes to buy it

chickenlass
could someone tell me if they think this horse bedding would be OK to use as you have all described please?http://laysoft.co.uk/
Jaime
Laysoft is white wood chips (Recycled) and has had the fine dust extracted which is important for chickens as they can breathe in fine particles. It should be fine.... I think many of us would still recommend Aubiose or Hemcore as a preference
