Why does Hazel keep crowing?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone i have had for the past few days crowing, all i can spell it as it she says bak bak bak bak really quite and then BAK BAK BAK BAK, sorry i can do any better  It started this morning at about 4.40am when john was called into work early cuz of some production fault. When she started the next door neighbours slammed a window shut (they can get lost there border collie wakes us up almost every morning, and im going to say so today!) John said to her "come on Hazel pack it in now please" and she did (they are very obidient because i hate unruly animals!) Now im wondering why she was doing it, she cant have been laying an egg cuz shes usually in at about 8.50 - 9.30, she stands at the top of the garden with Lily too doing it, any ideas/suggestions? thanks xxx

She was just trying to get your attention. Grackle stands on the highest perch shouting and I tell her to shut up and she does

Better give your neighbour some eggs. Don't start giving the girls treats when they shout, you'll make a rod for your own back :D

Our cream leg bar Rose, is very verbal. At the moment we are managing to keep her quiet until about 6.30 - 7.00 most mornings by covering the eglu with a dark coloured bath towel. However when she does it during the day I have to squirt her with the hose or water pistol - unfortunately she doesn't stop when told

I have one hen who makes a right rumpus of a morning - this is because for some unknown reason she gets up 5-10 minutes earlier than all the other girls and then decides she doesn't like being in the run on her own and shouts for the others to come down and join her :lol:

My top hen has also taken to crowing like a cockerel in the morning when she gets bored in the run and wants to be let out to FR :roll:
