Bertrum
http://www.sprcentre.com/product.asp?P_ID=1367&strPageHistory=related Seems they only want you to fill out a form to buy it as well. No prescription.

Christian
The Lady I get my feed from gets this, but I thought it was only available to breeders? They must have changed the rules.
The Dogmother
Last I heard it could only be sold by licensed premises such as Countrywide. The Flubenvet license costs £1k and they have to go on a 2 day course in Croydon.
veggiemad
I just rang up Marriages direct, they asked a few details and how many hens i had, and because there is no supplier near me they said they were happy to deliver it!! Out of interest, what did they charge for delivery? A friend was asking about this at the weekend.
Chucky Mama
Hang on before you all get too excited! It sounds great if you have lots of chickens but 20kg of medicated feed is an awful lot to get through bearing in mind that you only need to feed it for a week every 3-4 months. You would probably only use about 2-3kg of it per 3-4 chickens every 3-4 months. You shouldn't be feeding it all the time. As it is a controlled medication you cannot legally split it or sell any yourself.
chicken bark
I think I'll stick with mixing up my feed as I don't have enough hens to get through that much feed. Good idea if you've got lots of hens to do though.
Mercedes55
It's a good idea if you don't want to mix it up yourself but I have to agree that unless you have a lot of hens you could end up throwing some away. I wormed my 4 ex batts last week and gave them only the pellets mixed with the Flubenvet. Mine have what I think are fairly good appetites and they went through just under 3Kg in that week. veggiemad
I have estimated 6kg use for a course (6 hens) and the lady I spoke to at the company said it can be easily stored in a metal bin, it was £17.50 delivered- alot more than normal pellets plus flubenvet I know, but also- for me anyway........a huge amount easier than measuring and mixing. Laid in GB
£17.50 Doesn't seem that bad if they are going to deliver as well.
Lavenders_Blue
£17.50 I think I'll stick with measuring and mixing. It always seems fairly straightforward to me

But if you only use it twice a year then that only comes to 12kg. So you'll have a spare 8kg. Also most food should only be stored for a few months before it goes out of date. The Dogmother
There's usually about a 3 month use by date on feed.
Deb Dav
Apparently 'a 10kg bag will be available in the near future' - according to the latest ediion of Practical Poultry in the News section.

I wouldn't use food beyond 3 months, particularly is it is medicated. Extremes of heat and cold can affect most medications. I tub of Flubenvet costs approx £14 and will medicated £20 kg of food so there is not a huge amount of difference in price. I think the premixed is better for larger flocks. The possibility of a 10kg bag though would be great for those who don't get on with mixing Flub into food themselves
poachedegg
Thanks for the heads up - I have ordered a bag to try it out - will make life easier for us with the mixing.

abwsco
I've just ordered a bag as I've far too much going on at the moment to faff around mixing flub and layers together. Just cross with myself as I meant to order some when I saw this post. Didn't and have found a worm in poo tonight when I was cleaning out the cube poo trays. abwsco
OMG this is sooooooooooooooooo easy and the girls are wolfing them down. I know it's dearer but I don't plan to buy Flub again on it's own ever again.
Chucky Mama
It makes so much sense. I really hope that they do a smaller bag.

Mollie333
I'd buy it if it was a 10kg bag.
