patsylabrador
Hello, Around last Christmas, lots of forum members got Wii Fitness things. I was wondering how things are going, this isn't me being altruistic, I ask this on occasions to give me the impetus to keep going. I've so far been very good, and am reaping the rewards. Yesterday, I walked to the top of a big hill at a brisk pace and didn't get out of breath until the very top and my legs were strong all the way. It was such a nice feeling, but I spoilt it with a pub lunch when we got back down the hill. I woke up early this morning and decided not to do exercises because I was so pleased with myself - where's the sense in that? So I thought I would use this forum as a little stick to prod me in the back. Edited January 8, 2011 by Guest
chickencam
I only got as far as setting mine up I must be more organised. I dread to think what the trainer will say to me if I turn it back on, it must be 6 months since i did the initial set up on Fitness trainer. Old Speckled Hen
Hello,Yesterday, I walked to the top of a big hill at a brisk pace and didn't get out of breath until the very top and my legs were strong all the way. It was such a nice feeling, You don't need any prodding. Throw the Wii away and keep walking up that hill. You will get fitter and fitter, something the pub lunch will never destroy.............and what a lovely reward. That's what OH and I try to do every Sunday. A decent walk then a couple of pints and a pub lunch........heaven
Seagazer
I haven't been able to do mine since I damaged my knee in March. We got one of the newer fitness games for the Wii and I'm going to start it up again as I'm going to miss out anything that involves squats etc. I really miss doing it but have been walking the dog still but it doesn't help much with my spare tyre
Chucky Mama
I have just bought EA Sports Active: Personal Trainer for Wii and can highly recommend it. I have the wii fit but it is more of a game that a fitness regime. I have started the 30 day challenge on the Sports Active and am on day 4. I am doing the medium difficulty one and have lost 6lbs - I am eating more sensibly too. I know it is working as I ache is places that I don't ache when I run. It sets out a routine and your virtual coach works through it with you. It does involve a fair few 'lunges' which you could 'untick' if it aggravates those with sore knees. So far the set routines take about 20mins to do.

We have a Wii but I've not been able to justify the added cost of the balance board etc as I'm not convinced I'd use it that often. I'd like a game first to see how I get on. Chucky Mama
No you don't, you have the option to say whether or not you have the board and it will tailor things accordingly. So far from what I have seen there is no huge advantage to having the board (which I have). Both OH and my very fit children used the programme yesterday and they all ache this morning. I feel that it gives a whole body workout.
Omletina Kyckling
I'm also doing the EA Active 30 day challenge and am on day 3 and it is fabulous. I'm doing the easy one first but I'm also doing my own little workouts each day in addition to this. I know it's too early to really be able to see you are getting results but I'm feeling far more positive about exercising etc. I would never go to a gym or go for a run and am not particularly sporty but I'm enjoying this very much! Once I've done the Easy 30 days, I shall move on to the next stage....I hope Seagazer, I have bad knees due to my arthritis, I still do the squats but a less extreme version of them so I'm still doing a bit with my legs, but can't do full squats. I got my Wii console and Wii fit for Christmas and am absolutely thriled with it.
Clur
I'm looking online as to where to get it and it looks like there are two versions. Am assuming the cheaper one is an older game, but might try that first
Seagazer
We've since bought the board too so will start as soon as I can summon up my lazy bones to do it. It really does work, I've just got a touch of lazyititis at the moment
Chucky Mama
I'm looking online as to where to get it and it looks like there are two versions. Am assuming the cheaper one is an older game, but might try that first I bought both. I have started on the older game but loaded the newer game too yesterday. I don't know if it combines the 2 programmes like the 2 Wii fit programmes to use all routines. I'll let you know

Lesley
I bought mine in November 2009 but was ill when it arived - and then it stayed in the box until Dec. 2010 I set it up and have been using it every few days - it is good for the days when I can't leave the house because of icy weather. I do Aquafit twice a week and occasionally find my way into the gym and I have some gym equipment at home so I do a bit of everything really. I'm still working my way through the different WiiFit bits but I'm enjoying it and will put together a programme at some time.
Chickendoodle
I'm looking online as to where to get it and it looks like there are two versions. Am assuming the cheaper one is an older game, but might try that first The second one is actually much more interesting to do than the first one. I bought the first one and after working through the challenge I got the 2nd one - it is nowhere near as repetitive and there are some exercises that are much more fun. If you havent taken the plunge yet I would recommend that you go for the 2nd one. You do need ot make sure that the version you get contains the leg strap and exercise bands - you can buy your own bands (I did because I found the one supplied was too weak) but you must have the leg strap to put the nunchuck in as this is that monitors your movements
