Looney
Poor you, I wish I had a magic wand and could hurry things along a bit. I have claimed responsibility for two of my friends going into labour as I sent them some serious belly-popping vibes and they had the baby the same day. Ok, so it was just coincidence, I'll admit it Erm, have you sorted out your cutlery drawer? Cleaned the fridge? Organised books, CDs, DVDs into categories and alphabetical order....! Waiting is just soooooooo frustrating isn't it? I was a week overdue with Bogwoppit and I remember thinking he would never arrive.
CallyChook
normally with the 13 hour shifts my home is a tip, and it doesn't bother me. But now my cupboards in the kitchen are all arranged - top: tins - ingredients/veg on the left, cooked products ie hot dogs, spaghetti, beans on the right. next down: unopened sauces, crisp multipacks. Tall cupboard: top - biscuits crackers and sweets dry goods - cuppa soups / pasta in sauce packets / batter mix at the back, crisps (singles) in front, oxo and casserole sachets on the right. baking things, flour at the back, sticky stuff forwards and spices on the right with colourings and flavourings next to them. jars of sauce ie sharwoods curries and chicken tonight dry pasta, rice, spuds and noodles oils and vinegars drinks / pop/ soda water. see how bored I am??? and all hubby's 3000-odd CDs are in the right boxes in groups A-Z. chocolates for the midwives are wrapped and stacked, birthing pool and equipment checked and stacked, old paperwork shredded...... come on baby before the men in white coats come whizzing by.... chicken bark
Chocolates for the midwives. Eeek I was never that organised. I meant to do something like that but was a little preoccupied. Actually during my first home birth I held onto her hands the entire time. That was from 9am until 5.40pm. I did let her go home at midnight that night. She must have had a very capacious bladder. I think I occasionally let go of one her hands so she could grap a sip of tea.

We found that we still called him Bogwoppit (as a nickname, not his real name ) after he arrived as well. So, where is Callychook?

Chucky Mama
How dare you embroider when we are all waiting We need you to log in at least hourly to stop us getting all excited. Actually on a serious note, good that you are relaxing. You must be getting really fed up now. Thinking of you
scarlettohara
She's wainting until you are relaxed and it's quiet - which is why foals are usually born in the early hours
CallyChook
my mother just popped round, she is going away for the weekend without my dad (long story and very worrying in itself, but hey ho) and had come to see me before she went in case anything happened. She is so stoical about everything, I hope that inside really she is as emotional as me but always comes accross as the woman of ice. It's very difficult sometimes. She had the following sensible things to say - I bet you're really fed up of waiting now but she obviously just isnt ready then followed by you were a bit rubbish at labour last time though weren't you (as my ex had disappeared with the other woman at that point, mum had to step into the breach and be my birth partner. she was quite awful at it) and oh well, another week won't kill you I know the above is all true, but I still didn't need her to say it out loud. I cried. I told her it was just hormones and lack of sleep, wished her well, then shut the door behind her. Actually it is because what I needed her to do was say things like "what an awkward little madam, come on out, grannie wants to meet you!" and "I wish there was something I could do to help, it must be so frustrating". I wanted sympathy, not reason. I am fully aware that baby will come when she is ready and not before, and that is that and nothing will change it. I did not need reminding by the person who gave birth to me!! (on time, and my sister was too. She obviously is far far better at giving birth than silly old me. Happy chickens!
If she's that experienced she should have known not to try to teach a heavily pregnant woman to suck eggs!!! You shouldn't tease us forum aunties like that by going awol you know - you'll have to teach you DS to give us updates if you're busy elsewhere now, or ask permission from us first now you know what worryworts we are! chicken bark
Poor you. I hate conversations like that. I know the sort really well. {{hugs}} from me. You are doing a great job and I'm sure your Mum thinks so too. She probably thought she was helping by being pragmatic about it. {{hugs}} again. You deserve them. chickencam
My mother is a bit like that. She shouldn't feel the need to get all superior over birthing. It is what it is and totally outside your control. Good luck
