Gone! - Chicken vanished ** Sad update

Recommended Posts

I can't believe it I went out in the garden earlier and my last ex-batt has vanished. There is no trace of her. No-one could have taken her as the OH has been in all day and the dogs would have gone mad if anyone had come near the house. I have searched the garden for feathers and there don't appear to be signs of an attack. I've called and she is normally reliable at coming but she's gone. The others are all fine and have taken themselves off to bed. I can't understand how a chicken can vanish. :?

Oh Dear, its such a worry. One of mine 'dissapeared' the other night, i searched everywhere for her and all the others had gone to bed. In the end, i found her perched on top of the nest box divider in the cube! :D I had already looked in the cube, but you dont expect them to be there!

i will keep my fingers crossed for her safe return.

I hope you girl turns up OK.

We lost a girl about 4 weeks ago, we searched around but nothing. No feathers or "evidence" :( . It was just (and remains) a complete mystery. I suspect that she had a nest somewhere and went to sit on it - but I've been right next to a nest before now and haven't seen it until a little red comb bobs back and forth.

Good Luck ;)

No sign of her still. She stopped laying ages ago because we've had her about 3 years and she's an ex-batt. She disappeared when it was still light and we're pretty rural so we don't see foxes during the day. There is a neighbour's cat that takes an interest but batts are quite big so I wouldn't have thought it could carry her over a 6ft fence. She's so friendly it won't be the same without her.
