Gone! - Chicken vanished ** Sad update

Recommended Posts

I found her, in the bushes, dead. She looks unharmed (without touching her) so I assume she just died of old age. She seemed fine so it's a real surprise. She looked like a pile of leaves which is obviously why I didn't see her originally. I'm sad but she must have been about 4 so had 3 years of freedom before dying whilst freeranging. I guess there are worse ways to go. Bimble a really great character shown on the right below just after we got her.

So sad when you loose one. I am dreading the day when mine go, but like everyone has said you gave her freedom, and i am sure she knew you loved her very much. At least you know she died peacefully & Mr fox or cat did not get her. May she RIP. You did a brilliant job looking after her!

Wowsers - look at the difference in the before and after photos! You did an amazing job and she will have had a very happy life with you. All good things must come to an end and it was obviously Bimbles time. Glad you found her and know that nothing nasty happened to aid her end.

RIP Bimble :boohoo:

I can't really add anything to what others have already said, but Bimble had a fab retirement with you after what can't have been a great start in life and three very happy years doing fun chicken stuff. Sounds like she was just "ready to go"and found herself a comfy spot to die in peace. I am sure that is what all chickens would choose, if they could.

I'm sorry Shirl :(

I think it is rather a lovely peaceful end to an ex battery hen's life to lie down and go to sleep out in the open where a real hen should be, feathers fluttering with the wind, you missing her as she resembled golden autumnal fallen leaves. You gave her that outdoor space Shirl, don't forget it.

Couldn't have put it any better...
