Exciting!

I was wondering that

You got me interested so I started looking at quail info. DH wouldnt let me keep them inside though. Its confusing in that respect though as most large aviaries are outside.

We used to keep ours in the aviary at the bottom of the garden. They used to run around the floor quite happily and the canaries didn't bother them at all. They slept in a small plastic dustbin on its side.

At the moment they are in with the tortoises!:lol:

The two tortoises live in a converted Ottamon with a heat lamp, fake foliage etc. The quails love it, and they don't bother each other!

When the quails are a bit bigger I intend to use them for meat and eggs, obviously I will need to hatch some more before I start using them for meat! :D

Wow I would have never thought that was possible, I thought that being refrigerated would have stopped them from being hatchable, obviously not.

Supermarkets don't refrigerate their eggs. When they are brought into the store, they are kept in the warehouse, not in the refrigerators - that's why they are not in fridges on the shop floor. :D

Well done Martin, they are adorable :D

apparently you can stick them in the fridge if incubation hasn't started. Bit like freezing embryos. I suspect it makes them more likely to fail though
