Anyone else stuck on Christmas present ideas?

Recommended Posts

Try going to eBay (or Amazon or Etsy or similar) and putting in a couple of words that you associate with that person, and see what comes up.

For example, one of my friends is mad about frogs, and likes drinking wine - frog-decorated wineglasses came up one year. It might just give you a bit of inspiration!

Me an the wife always have problems every year with each other, so this year we have set a £5 limit and we have to buy the most useless stuff from pound shops etc. So far I have a gnome for £1 and a dancing bear for 50p!

I love that idea  We never usually bother buying each other but we do the same thing with cards, has to be the cheapest birthday/anniversary/Christmas card with husband/wife on. He won last year with a not so lovely poinsettia on my card. I must try harder this year

I have mum almost sorted - nice handbag that she had her eye on - need something to go with it - maybe a purse or some nice earrings / smellies.

Brother in law always requests a wooly beanie hat with a designer name to it - easy.

Sister - likes Cath Kidston stuff & the like, plus horsey stuff - any ideas?

16 month old Nephew - toys, but what???? Help!!

Dad - jumper & nice stripey classy scarf - probably from Next / Debenhams.

Hubby - no idea - loves gadgets, technology & tools. Help!

Me - I'm going to have some GHD's off hubby apparently from the official website - as he doesn't trust elsewhere! I feel very lucky. :D

I have to think of something my sister in law can buy me - any ideas? She does buy me what I ask for always!

I'm usually organised, but we are going away for Xmas this year & that's all I'm thinking about. :D I must finish my shopping soon though. Ugh.

i usually pay attention throughout the year and make mental notes of what people say they like....

not sure i should say on here what I've bought OH as he might be watching but if he is, LOOK AWAY NOW 2 SHEDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

got him a mug from vistaprint with the banksy pulp fiction pic on it, (the one with the bananas) you can get them to print anything you like onto a blank mug and it's come out really well! He loves banksy and he loves pulp fiction, and he loves coffee so hopefully it's a win, win, win! That was less than a fiver as i only had to pay for postage and packing due to an offer they had.

also bought him a brand new set of scooter cufflinks, he rides a scooter and has to wear suit/tie for work and he has a few shirts that need cufflinks. They cost £1.99 off ebay plus P&P. I googled them on the net and they should have been about £20. Looks like someone was getting rid of an unwanted pressie on ebay.

I have allso bought him a Vivienne Westwood tie, blue silk with the orb pattern on it. Again off ebay, cost £25 but they retail for about £70 as far as I know. Certainly looks genuine to me but even if it isn't, it looks nice :D He's loved her since his punk days.

Bought his parents a case of wine, got a tip off via the MSE newsletter that Tesco had brilliant discounts and we got 6 bottles of a £7 a bottle wine for about £2 a bottle because on top of the already discounted wine we got an extra 25% off plus £10 off for it being our first shop with them on line.

I think we're getting my sis and her OH a box set of 'The Good Life' DVDs. They live on a boat and have no telly, only a DVD player. We bought them the box set of 'ever decreasing circles' last year. Amazon have TGL box set on offer at the mo, down from 70 odd quid to 30 odd quid and I might ask if we can borrow it :wink:

No doubt I'll be on the lookout for other bargainous christmas pressies for everyone else! ;)

just gone into amazon to order the dvds and if you sign up for an amazon mastercard you get £10 off the first purchase over £25 so got the dvds for £36.93 with free delivery and will get £10 off for signing up for the card. It comes as a credit on the card so will just have £26.93 to pay back.

wouldn't have done it but i know we're strong willed and will not be tempted to use the card. I can't believe companies are chucking credit cards at people again, it only took 60 seconds to get approved for it via the amazon site
