Cinnamon
My eldest has just ventured out in her old Panda called Daisy for the first time on her own, after passing her test yesterday I am a total bundle of nerves.................someone tell me that it gets better please! I am popping in to town later & will take a drive past the road where to students park to make sure she hasn't abandoned it in the middle of the street or anything

chickencam
Well done her , it is very scarey the first time you go out on your own and equally scarey for the parents.
Linda
Oh Sarah, I totally understand. Lizzy passed her test in October and I managed to pick up a little Corsa for her four weeks ago. I have been such a nervous wreck too, but it is starting to get a little easier now as she is building up experience and confidence. I'm now looking forward to her spending the next seventeen years ferrying me around wherever I want to go! Fair's fair.
kitbag
I can assure you she will be scared too! I passed my test on Friday and I was a bundle of nerves first time I drove by myself! Well done her for passing! Did she get the Blackboy roundabout?
Seagazer
Congratulations to your DD and to Kitbag for passing the driving test. It does get better but I do still tell ES to drive carefully every time he goes out. DD doesn't have a car any more so I don't have to worry about her. Which examiner did you have - funny if it was the same guy
ali-s
Congratulations to your Daughter Jack passed his test 2 months ago but it was a few weeks before I let him drive me to town. He is a sensible driver but I am a nervous passenger. I was frantic with worry the first time he went out by himself in his little Clio and even now I tell him to drive carefully. kitbag
Cinnamon - I had a man called Tony! He was the most grumpy man I have ever met! I didn't get the roundabout either thank goodness! I ended up having the test route I practiced before my test!

Devon didn't have him either Its a difficult time of year to take to the roads on your own, what with all the extra traffic,& dangers of ice & so forth
The Dogmother
I took mine (30 years ago ) in the snow; it had just stopped so the test wasn't cancelled. My mother still tells me to drive carefully

Cinnamon
Daisy is a 4x4, albeit a very old one. We thought it would be a sensible second car for the family really, after last years snow. I drive 'Marge', a bright blue new style Panda,& I totally love her. I always had big cars up til then,& it was a real revelation driving something small, nippy & easy to park
ali-s
There doesn't seem to be many or any second hand 4x4's for sale up here although I have seen a few for sale down south around the London area. I can still remember the registration number of Polly Panda. I have had a few cars since and can't remember their numbers. The car was so basic, deck chair type seats in the front which didn't have any sort of padding, the gear stick was just a very long metal stick protruding from the floor and no seat belts in the back No glove compartment or anywhere to store anything and a choke to help it start. The fan on the heater worked depending how fast you went, so if stuck in traffic you would get cold and going along the motorway you were toasty
Ain't Nobody Here
Wonder if this guy's parents worried about his driving (and parking!) *news story*
