Going to see a rescue kitty later - Update Pics!

Recommended Posts

Got in touch with a local Cat Rescue charity recently and we are going to meet a potential new family member later today.

He's 5 months old, black with white socks, and was born at the rescue centre so no concerns about background.

If we like him, they will do a home visit on Sunday and then we can pick him up as soon as we like.

Will post pic's as soon as I have some.

He's soooooo cute and sweet and quite shy - although he seemed very interested in DS, which is brill as we have said that it will be his cat.

He is all black with white sox and his whiskers are all black except for one each side which is bright white.

He kept coming to the front of the pen to sniff our hands and then reversing, considering us and coming back again!

DS was looking in the pen underneath and he came right to the front of his pen and had a good old sniff of his hat.

The rescue lady is coming for a home visit on Sunday and has already asked if we would like her to bring him as she doesn't foresee any problems - so fingers crossed, we will be a 2 cat household again from Sunday.

Can't wait!

Fantastic news, having lost 3 cats in the last 4 years all in their late teens, I adopted two brothers in April one a ticked tabby we called Bollo & the other ticked tabby and white we called Naboo, in November I just happened to be browsing the website when I saw a beautiful fluffy tortoiseshell kitten so I went and viewed her and collected her the next day, we've called her Kiki :D

They are absolute delights and are helping us get through a tough year, I bet you'll be too busy too update us when you get him home, it's also a good time of year for getting a kitten as it's much easier to keep them indoors until they are neutered!

Have fun and update us soon if you can drag yourself away

He is now home with us - although we haven't seen much of him as he is behind the settee where the radiator is, so unfortunately I can't get any piccies yet, but I promise as soon as I can you'll be the first to know!

Think we're going to call him Socks (or Sox) as he has ickle white feet - and being as the other cat is called Pants - well it was either Sox or Vest

I keep having a quick look where he is and seeing huge black eyes blinking back at me - I sooooooo want to snuggle and cuddle him but am restraining myself to let him settle in his new surroundings.

Other cat seems fairly indifferent just yet - time will tell I suppose.

He's changed settee's during the night, and used the litter box so seems okay so far.

Unfortunately he has decided to go inside the reclining settee so I've unplugged it just in case DS decides to try and 'rescue' him

Thinking about going and getting a puppy crate, so that when OH comes in later and we can retrieve the little chap, he can be kept out of harms way and get used to us and his new surroundings a little easier.

Any advice very much appreciated!

I used a puppy crate for Bollo and Naboo for the first couple of weeks & they were fine, Kiki however was a little minx and managed to escape from it within a few minutes by moving the tray at the bottom and squeezing through a tiny gap  So try and borrow one rather than buy, though having said that they do come in handy of you need to keep a chook indoors for any reason!

Hi there Fluffyfeet :dance::dance: , sooooooooo happy for you. It must be something about kittens and sofas, as Flora spent most of her 1st 3 days with us crawling around inside our reclining sofa's :lol::lol: .

I kept forgetting and then panicking incase I had just squished a kitten :doh: . She was fine however.

We found that a teaspoon of tuna on a saucer did the trick. Just the smell of that was enough to lure her out from under the sofa, and then we started playing with her with one of those cat toys on a long string on a stick. As soon as she was playing she forgot about the sofas then.

Can't believe she's been here for over 3 weeks now!!!! It seems as if she's just arrived :lol:

Progress!

He's out from the settee and up on the window sill behind the curtains. If I pop my head round the end of the curtain and make chirpy cooing noises (any cat people will know what I mean) he walks up to my face, bold as anything, purring loudly and yumming the sill, and then headbutts me square on the nose - Bless!

It's killing me not to grab him and snuggle him but 'softly softly, catchey monkey' as they say. He's definitely settling though. Havne't photographed him yet as I am worried about the flash scaring him but i will as soon as I can.

I'm dying to see him, do you have a camera phone? I get good results indoors without a flash by using the night setting!

You are doing the right thing, I had to spend ages laying on the floor in the lounge to get my shy boys used to me and now Naboo pins me to the sofa and stops me doing housework! Ok, he gets on me and I don't like to move him

Sox sounds like a real little darling.
