iPod problem

Recommended Posts

Rosie has my old Nano 3rd generation iPod, it has always worked fine, but has taken (when I plug it into the PC) to continuously connecting and disconnecting so that it's impossible to get it to show up on itunes.

I have been through all the various internet forums for this problem with no result. Have also reset it and completely restored it when it connected to my work PC.

Anyone got any ideas?

Can't help Claret. My guess is that it's had it. My 4th Nano has just broken  Plugged it into the new charger sent to me by Apple as compensation for having had 3 faulty Nanos and it hasn't worked since. I could  From my experience talking to tech support at Apple, if it doesn't work after a reset there is not much that you can do.

Hiya. Sorry haven't had any experience with this problem but could it be the wire? Maybe give it a go with a different USB lead from another ipod/iphone. iPods dont have a very long life tbh - my iPod broke so I bought an iPhone, which packed in today too :( hope you get it working :)

I've tried different cables. My ipod works on this PC an with both cables. I don't know what's wrong, will try it on the on

work PC tomorrow - I managed to get it to connect to that the other day and did a restore. Will do it once again and that's it.

I am reluctant to get her another one (this is my old one) as she's not careful with her gadgets; she managed to lose the old Samsung (cheap) MP3 that I gave her a couple of years back.

I think may have got to the bottom of it - it's to do with the PC at home... both the ipod and the camera work on other pooters but not at home. Spoke to my techie friend this evening and it's to do with PCs having different power outlet levels to the USB sockets. I'll try his recommendation and see how it goes.

Thanks for all your suggestions. :D

Mine is fixed  I got through to tech support who sorted it out for me. The screen was dead and the computer wouldn't recognise it. I had to start itunes and then attach the ipod and hold down menu and the round bit in the centre down at the same time. The ipod started and I was told that I needed to uninstall all traces of itunes including quick time etc and then reinstall them. Thankfully the ipod wanted to sync with my computer straight away so uninstalling wasn't necessary. I don't know if this is of any help Claret :)

I have tried all the other ports, but Simon suggested unplugging the things in other ports too, which kinda defeats the object. I will get him to pop round and sort it out.

He does have a point, stuff plugged into the other ports could be using up all the power.
