Ouch!

Recommended Posts

I was putting new brake blocks on my bike, the new brake blocks were (and still are) in a packet and secured by cable ties. To release the new blocks, I grabbed a (very sharp) knife and tried to cut them off, but my hand slipped and my left hand thumb got in the way of the knife, slicing it clean open

Anyway, it has stopped bleeding now and is dressed. (bled through 2 wound pads, a tissue and a lot of blood ended up on the floor too  )

But it stings like mad, so sympathy please :D

....and take my OH with you  - he decided to use one of our butchery boning knives to stab holes in a joint of pork and stabbed right through the flesh/web part of his thumb  Like you, blood everywhere.......

He wouldn't go to have it looked at as his thumb still moved  - I hope you have more sense and have yours sorted out properly.

It has been stiched and glued now, the dr said I was lucky that I didn't damage the nail bed, or I would have to go to plastics. Also they don't close wounds on the same day, so there was no point going to A&E yesterday. I have been given some antibiotics too.

Glad to hear you're sorted. I didn't know they didn't close wounds on the same day ........... swelling I suppose?

Infections, if you wait, then any infection will show up, on the same day they just clean it and dress it, no stitching etc
