jlo
This has just arrived in Basingstoke and I must admit that I am intrigued by it. However , I posted something to that effect and my friend in the States has told me that there are real health issues with the spread of diseases. I am still tempted and just wondered whether anyone else has had a go?
Alis girls
I could not do this - the thought of fish nibbling my callouses makes me
Chickendoodle
My ED went to one in Brighton a couple of weeks ago - she said that after the initial screaming and wanting to kick all the fish away it was really nice and relaxing and her feet felt lovely afterwards (said it was very odd when the fish nibbled and swam through the toes though ) Edited February 18, 2011 by Guest
Old Speckled Hen
I understand that the fish will only nibble dead skin if they are starving.
lillybettybabs
I went to one in Leamington spa and loved it! They nibble all my hard skin off my heels and left my feet very smooth, I will be going for another one after skiing.

Seagazer
My SIL went to the opening of a friend's salon last week and said they had the fish there. She put her hand in and said she may consider having her feet done. Not sure I'm too keen on the idea myself.
craftyhunnypie
It makes me feel a bit sick, the thought of it. There is one in Manchester & my thoughts are - do they empty the water out of the tank after every customer? I doubt it! I mean where would they put the fish during cleaning of tanks? Also I thought fish lived on algae & the like - not skin. Not for me, give me a bit of foot scrub any day! Emma.x
Margalot
We have one just opened on the business park I work in. My concern is the fish though? what about their welfare? getting squashed by feet and sloshed from tank to tank. And also the health scares I read about those a while ago. Some of the fish used abproad apparently are'nt' the gara ruffa fish and have small teeth. I feel a bit for the lady who opened the salon here as she launched hers on a business park and then 2 days later one has opened in the town centre so will get passing trade....seems a bit like something you might get done once but then never go again! I agree with some of your concerns and also with your view that it is likely to be a bit of a passing phase. We popped into the one in town today. Still not sure! Old Speckled Hen
I think it's despicable how living creatures are offered in this way for the consumption of us humans. The major fault must lie with the suppliers because I'm sure most consumers of such "delights" have no idea of the welfare issue. I'm sure a lot of the "spent" fish must end up being flushed down the lavatory. more money than sense......or compassion.

Egluntyne
I agree with OSH's view too. Far better to go to a decent chiropodist in my view - who will diagnose and treat any problems you might have. I think the potential for picking up an infection can't be ignored. Plus - the seats don't look very comfortable.
Valkyrie
I think I'll stick to a nice relaxing bubble bath with a pumice stone!

Alis girls
There are health issues especially if cheaper fish with teeth are used esp if you are diabetic or have poor circulation. i cant think of anything worse if I was a fish of having to nibble some big smelly crusty plates of meat (feet)
Sam
What a coincidence, we've just had one opened in our town center! Would be quite an experience to have it done, but I don't really like fish... or feet... I'd probably be shouting the whole way through it
Space Chick
Welfare issues aside which I am now re-thinking I had it done in Cardiff a few weeks back, I really enjoyed the experience it was a bit tickly but enjoyable and my feet felt lovely afterwards
