Redwing
After a great deal of struggling in late pregnancy one of our ewes Hetty has had twin lambs We have one girl and one boy and made the instant mistake of naming them Hetty waited till we were both there yesterday to have her lambs and we watched the whole thing, we felt with a few moments and a few moments but mainly Hetty is still struggling (she has a cyst on her windpipe) but is much improved without the burden of lambs inside her The female lamb is doing well, the male is struggling and hasnt suckled yet so is being fed by tube until he gets enough strength to copy his sister, he has had a few bottles but multiple changes of clothes on my part would indicate that this isnt as sucessful as the tube I've had a lot of sleepless nights this last week trudging to our field in the cold, dark and rain - I hope and pray that Penny who is next to have lambs will be an awful lot easier! Redwing
Congratulations Lets hope the boy improves and Hetty as well. Are these your first (so to speak )? Yes these are our first lambs We didnt feel we knew enough to try lambing last year so left it till this year ...on reflection we still dont know enough! Its been a steep learning curve for me this last week, I've injected, drenched and stuck my hands all sorts of places this week and poor Hetty has coped with it all just throwing me the odd annoyed look
