Long time no see!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

You probably don't remember me but I used to post here a good 3-4 years ago when I was a student in Brighton and still had chickens. I'm now married and mortgaged (getting old) but sadly still chickenless - OH says garden too small  I am working on this though and would love to get a cube and 3-4 chooks as I really miss them! I do have two mini-lop bunnies though called Parsnip and Cassarole, very cute but slightly insane i think!

Hopefully I'll be able to pop on the forum a bit more now that life has settled down a bit and I'll have chickens again soon! Just wanted to say a little hello and re-introduce myself to the forum again :D .

Oh i remember both of you, both posting around the time i joined. I hope you soon remedy the chickenless situation. Martin if i remember rightly you posted 1,000 posts quicker than anyone ever had. I remember you went from strength to strength having chooks, quails and tortoises. Good luck to you both nice to hear from you both again, doesn't time fly.

Those were the days.

Quickest person to 1,000 posts!

My posts per day ratio used to be about 40 per day!

I still have the tortoises. But no quail or chickens.

Looking to get back in to either chickens or quail in the coming months! :)

Nice to see you all!

Hi Rachel,

I remember you too, and like you I haven't been on here for about 3 years now.

Martin - could never forget you! You were a bit of legend when you first joined. Aged about 14 I think?

Well, i hope you don't mind me borrowing your thread Rachel, as I have popped on with a similar message to yours. Thought it would be nice to reply in here.

The reason I wanted to post, was to let those know that remember me and my Omlet hens, Thelma and Louise, that Thelma died yesterday of old age. She was just over 6 years old. She has out lived 6 other hens and was my bestest, most loveliest hen. I really did love her to bits. She was very intelligent and very friendly and was always the mother hen of the group.

She has been such a constant in our lives for 6 years, my eglu feels different without her in it.

Who'd have thought you could become so emotionally attached to a chicken?!

Thank you to the guys at Omlet for your lovely hens. Thelma was particularly healthy and strong and has given us gorgeous eggs right up until the day she died.

Bye for now,

Love Gina xxx

PS Forum has changed a bit hasn't it!!

Another ex forum regular here just checking in to say hello, I remember you both well Rachel & Martin, great to have a quick update on old forum friends. Gina I'm so sorry to hear about Thelma, but it sounds like she had a good long life with you. Bet your garden seems just a little bit emptier without her out there. I too am chicken-less these days, missed keeping them for quite a while but my life has moved on a fair bit with children heading off to uni, 3 sheep, 2 dogs & full time work so I've managed to fill the chicken gap in my life.

Really good to hear from you all, hope that you both manage to revive the chicken keeping hobby Rachel & Martin.
