stehaggan
Todays heavy winds have blew my mini greenhouse across the garden and ruined all my seedlings I have tried to salvage some but I think they will just die and I cant tell whats what which is a cucumber/squash etc. I am really gutted and now have to start again! Lesley
Oh no! - I hope the salvaged ones do survive. We lost another gazebo - that's our third since we moved here We popped out to buy some canes for the tomatoes and came home to a pile of bent metal poles and the cover attached by the guy ropes to the lawn
Ain't Nobody Here
What a shame . That happened to me last year but I managed to rescue most things. Hope you manage to salvage something .
craftyhunnypie
Aww no - that is such a shame! I can offer you a jalapeno chilli, a tomato, a cucumber & a courgette plant if you like? Emma.x
stehaggan
Ha thanks Emma I think they may die in the post tho Everything I repotted seems to be a lot healthier than it looked yesterday but I don't know what half of them are :-S. All my beans are mixed up and same with te cucumbers, squashes and pumpkins etc so I don't know how long I will have to wait until they grow so I know what they are :-s x
Christian
That happened to me a couple of years ago. So upsetting isn't it? I drilled two holes either side of the greenhouse and attached two extra large eyelets to the wall. A bungee cord/rope now keeps my mini greenhouse in one place. Hope all the seedlings pull through. LolaLayla
How awful for you. I used to have a plastic greenhouse and had to put heavy plant pots inside to stop it blowing away. One very windy night I was so worried I was out in the nightie dragging the base of the umbrella stand inside it to stop it taking off. Thank goodness the neighbours didn't see me I am now lucky enough to have a glass greenhouse but I still have to stop the cold frame moving and the box trees in containers rolling away. Do you know any expert greenhouse gardiners who may be able to help you with identification?
stehaggan
Ive chilled out about it a bit now - I'm just frustrated as I have bought a 10 x 6 glass greenhouse but can't put it up ye until a shed gets cleared and I have no idea when that will be The seedlings I rescued seem to be surviving with love and water but I have resorted to planting lots of seeds straight into the ground today and I will just have pot luck with the disaster ones when they grow and if ihave excess I will donate them to mums charity shop. I went o the allotment in shorts and t shirt and was freeeezing because of the wind, stupidly no sun factor and I now look like a 6 foot tomato eeek
LolaLayla
Hope it all works out for you. You will love your greenhouse once you get it set up. This is my second summer with it and I am now learning what is best to grow. I am in Scotland so we have a shorter season and some things I just can't grow outside. We had the wind and sun today so I know what you mean. Great for the washing though!
The Dogmother
I had one of those tall thin ones on the patio, securely anchored. I gave up after the 3rd time of it being blown away

chickencam
We now just use the insides of several plastic greenhouses as shelving in the garden for potted on plants. We have a small permenant one now and I love it, grow mainly toms and cucumbers in it but it is full of seed trays at the moment too. I hope that your salvaged plants pull through, they are often more robust than you think.
