What did you get married in? frock wise...

Recommended Posts

There was six weeks between deciding to get married and doing the deed, and there was christmas in the middle! We married on 29th december 2009... It was very low key and we are not fussy people and only very close family and friends a whopping 16 in all...

We had a lovely day and it was freezing cold, almost minus degrees, and there was much rain! Didn't dampen our day though :wink::wink:

My dress was the first thing I tried on, so was 'meant to be' as far as I was concerned...

awww, some lovely photos everyone

I've just been for a rummage on the backup hard-drive, and found some scanned ones from my wedding in 2004. We had a church wedding in late October, with reception afterwards in a tiny, really pretty hotel. It did get pretty cold and windy, as you can see from the photos  but I'm happy we didn't have perfect weather - we would never have got some of the best pictures, including the brolly one which is my absolute favourite, with clear skies :)

I should have known then lace would be a trendsetter  . (I went shopping for something really plain, and ended up with a corset-backed meringue with a fair-sized train, and lace across the bodice and set into the skirt's organza overlay. Funny how things end up  ). Also had an enormous long veil, which I loved, although it did keep trying to attack people in the photographs outside the church.

Flowers were really dark red roses, burgundy (almost black) calla lilies, and gerberas, with rosemary (for rememberance in the old language of flowers, plus Rosemary was my late mum's middle name), ivy and berries. The bridesmaids were in really dark burgundy dresses from BHS - looked at lots of really expensive ones, then found exactly what I was after on the off chance when I popped in one day.

Sorry, bit of a picture overload, couldn't choose :wall:

Oh, and the cake, as it was so gorgeous :D (3 tiers were chocolate fudge, lemon madeira and chocolate fudge with Baileys - neither of us are particularly big fans of traditional fruitcake & marzipan)

Yes lots of tropical... any at the other end of the spectrum like me?

We married in the Ice Hotel Sweden in 2004. I bravely wore a backless strappless dress although I did have a white (fake) fur short jacket over the top. We were alone as I didnt want the family pressure of having to invite people I didnt want present. Bliss

My album is in the loft and staying there ! Here's a head shot of me - my dress was 50's style with a full skirt as I was 5 months pregnant with twins and had them 8 weeks later  My flowers were real - cream freesias with a bouquet to match :D

That's my beloved nanny in the background - she lived until she was 90 and my boys were 3, they adored her :P
